Free, free, set them free.
Free, free, set them free.
Free, free, set them free.
If you need somebody, call my name.
If you want someone, you can do the same.
If you want to keep something precious,
You want to hold on to your possessions, don't even think about me.
If you love somebody, if you love someone,
If you love somebody, if you love someone set them free.
(Free, free, set them free.)
Set them free.
(Free, free, set them free.)
Set them fee.
(Free, free, set them free.)
Set them free.
(Free, free, set them free.)
If it's a mirror you want just look into my eyes,
Or a whipping boy, someone to despise.
Or a pris'ner in the dark tied up in chains you just can't see
or a beast in a gilded cage; that's all some people ever want to be.
If you love somebody, if you love someone,
If you love somebody, if you love someone set them free.
(Free, free, set them free.)
Set them free.
(Free, free, set them free.)
Set them fee.
(Free, free, set them free.)
Set them free.
(Free, free, set them free.)
You can't control an independent heart,
(Can't love what you can't keep)
Can't tear the one you love apart.
(Can't love what you can't keep)
Forever conditioned to believe that we can't live,
We can't live here and be happy with less.
With so many riches, so many souls,
With ev'rything we see that we want to possess.
If you need somebody, call my name.
If you want someone, you can do the same.
If you want to keep something precious,
Got to lock it up and throw away the key.
You want to hold on to your possessions, don't even think about me.
If you love somebody, if you love someone,
If you love somebody, if you love someone set them free.
(Free, free, set them free.)

The lyrics to R.I.O.'s song "Somebody To Love" convey a powerful message about love, freedom, and the importance of letting go. The repetition of "Free, free, set them free" throughout the song emphasizes the theme of liberation and releasing attachments.
The first verse emphasizes the idea that if you truly care about someone, you should allow them to be free. The lines "If you need somebody, call my name" and "If you want someone, you can do the same" suggest that the singer is willing to be there for someone they love but understands the significance of independence and personal space. The lyrics also caution against possessiveness, urging listeners to avoid holding onto their possessions if they want to maintain healthy relationships.
The second verse dives deeper into the idea of freedom by presenting various examples. The lyrics suggest that some people prefer to confine themselves to certain roles, such as being a reflection ("a mirror you want") or a target ("a whipping boy"). Others may choose to imprison themselves emotionally ("a pris'ner in the dark tied up in chains"). This verse encourages listeners to break free from societal expectations and find their own happiness.
The bridge further explores the theme of control and possession. The lyrics assert that an independent heart cannot be controlled, and attempting to tear apart someone you love only leads to pain. The lines "Forever conditioned to believe that we can't live / We can't live here and be happy with less" criticize society's perception that material wealth and possessions are necessary for happiness. The song prompts listeners to question this notion and recognize that true happiness comes from love, freedom, and the ability to let go.
In the final repetition of the chorus, the lyrics emphasize the importance of setting loved ones free. It reinforces the idea that love is unconditional, and wanting the best for someone often means empowering them to be their own person. The repeated phrase "Set them free" serves as a powerful reminder to release control, allow loved ones to follow their own paths, and ultimately find happiness in both giving and receiving freedom.

When the truth is found
To be lies
And all the joy
Within you dies
Don't you want somebody to love?
Don't you need somebody to love?
Wouldn't you love somebody to love?
You better find somebody to love
Don't you want somebody to love?
Don't you need somebody to love?
Wouldn't you love somebody to love?
You better find somebody to love
Don't you
Don't you
Wouldn't you
Don't you
Now when the garden flowers
Baby, are dead
Yes, and your mind
Is full of red
Don't you want somebody to love?
Don't you need somebody to love?
Wouldn't you love somebody to love?
You better find somebody to love
Don't you
Don't you
Wouldn't you
Don't you
Your eyes, I say your eyes
May look like his
But in your head, I'm baby girl
I'm afraid you don't know where it is, where it is
Don't you
Don't you
Wouldn't you
Don't you
Don't you want somebody to love?
Don't you need somebody to love?
Wouldn't you love somebody to love?
You better find somebody to love

They all try to be aired on radio making the same shit that others do. But without success, no radio will play them. They should satisfy their early fans giving them what they want to hear. Party shaker was so much better than this slow pop song.....

If Don Diablo had posted this songs as his everyone would go like "Omg this song is so great" but just because R.I.O once does this kind of track all their fans get haters. That's not fair to them. This song is decent in my opinion. Nice and relaxing. Sometimes as a producer you need some new paths to discover especially if you do the same thing for 5 to 10 years.
