Rasputina Lyrics

I wanna tell ya 'bout my friend the dwarfstar
the first time I met him
he said he was a dwarfstar
cause he was small
and he was... famous
the second time I met him
he said I could never be a dwarfstar
because I was too tall
and I wasn't... famous
I wanna tell ya 'bout my friend the dwarfstar
the thir.... the second time I mean
that I went to see him
he was not in a very good mood
he said "stop comin' around here!"
I wanna tell ya 'bout my friend the dwarfstar
I wanna tell ya 'bout my friend the dwarfstar
the last time
that I went to see him
he had passed away
I wanna tell ya
I wanna tell ya
I wanna tell ya
I wanna tell ya
I wanna tell ya 'bout my friend the dwarfstar
I wanna tell ya 'bout my friend the dwarfstar
I wanna tell ya 'bout my friend the dwarfstar
I wanna tell ya 'bout my friend the dwarfstar
the end...
The lyrics of Rasputina's song "DwarfStar" are a poignant tribute to a friend who was a dwarf and took pride in his uniqueness as a "famous" dwarfstar. However, as the song progresses, it becomes clear that the dwarfstar had a troubled existence; he became increasingly isolated and withdrawn, eventually pushing his friend away and passing away. The song speaks to the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing individuality and celebrating the differences that make us unique.
The lyrics of "DwarfStar" can be interpreted on many levels. On one level, it can be seen as a commentary on how society treats those who are different or seem to deviate from the norm. The dwarfstar's insistence on being recognized not just as a dwarf, but as a "famous" dwarfstar suggests that he felt pressure to fit into a certain idea of what society deemed acceptable or valuable. On another level, the song speaks to the human need for connection and the fact that even the most isolated among us crave and deserve human interaction and kindness.
Overall, "DwarfStar" is a powerful meditation on the things that make us human and the need to embrace the diversity that exists in the world around us.

Ah yes. From the album "How We Quit the Forest". A lot of their stuff on that album seemed a departure from the sound I had come to love on "Thanks for the Ether".
