Founded by Creager in 1992, they have long held true to their mission of enlightening the common man as to the power and versatility of the mighty cello. Historically influenced, and constantly costumed, Rasputina keeps a small legion of incredibly passionate admirers enthralled with their earnest musicianship. Considered to be quite a pioneer and visionary, Melora and her group have inspired countless young people to pick up the cello, and have re-inspired many uninspired string players. Rasputina considers this to be the finest payment for their work.

How do we quit the forest
Rasputina Lyrics

Had a very fine flat to let.
Figurine hutch, no the place wasn't much, but they
Got a peacock.
His belongings were meager but,
He was pretty, would bring good luck.
They would sing songs all aroung the piano and
He would say what he's gonna do.
He would say what he wanted to.
Ostrich and egret were filled with regret, but the
Rent's well worth him.
He felt things that they'd never felt.
Like the slap of a feather belt.
So till they sat by the fireplace silent.
A chill ran through them.
Ostrich and egret and peacock had very small dreams.
Picturing them just reminded them of calendar scenes.
Nobody's laughing when everyone's weeping, it seems.
So that's how we quit the forest.
The scene wasn't what it used to be.
The scene is never what it used to be.
So, that's how we quit the forest.
The scene wasn't what it used to be.
The scene is never what it used to be.
So, that's how we quit the forest.
In this song, "How do we quit the forest," Rasputina tells us a story about three birds -- an ostrich, an egret, and a peacock -- that share a flat, but their cohabitation is not without trouble. The ostrich and the egret rented a small flat and they were pretty content with the arrangement until the addition of the peacock. Although the peacock was visually stunning, his presence seemed to make the place tighter and increasingly uncomfortable for the ostrich and the egret, and they didn't seem pleased about his constant need for attention, which made the other birds feel ignored. They longed for the peace and harmony that they had before the peacock joined them.
The lyrics also illustrate how the three birds had very limited dreams and aspirations in their lives, and how the addition of the peacock only served to remind them of their smallness and limitlessness. As a result, they decided to leave the forest and their home, looking for something better, or maybe just something different.
Overall, the lyrics of the song are a metaphor for the human struggle to exist in society, and how we are often forced to coexist with others who don't share our values and desires, and how this can cause us to feel stifled and restless.
