Redman's solo career continued throughout the remainder of the decade, with each of his albums selling at least half a million copies. His musical style has remained very consistent, rarely deviating from a combination of Redman's unique braggadocious wit and hard, P-funk-influenced beats. In addition to releasing albums under his own name, he is part of the group Def Squad (along with Keith Murray and Erick Sermon) with whom he released the 1998 album El Nino, and also has formed a close partnership with labelmate Method Man (of the Wu-Tang Clan) with whom he released the 1999 album Blackout!. The long-awaited follow-up, Blackout! 2, apeared in 2009.
He has also collaborated extensively, both with hip-hop artists and with artists from other genres; the long list of artists and groups he has worked with includes Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, The Offspring, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Gorillaz, D'Angelo, Me'shell Ndegeocello, 2Pac, Jodeci, Cypress Hill, De La Soul, KRS One and IAM.
In 2001 Redman co-starred with Method Man in the stoner comedy film How High, which featured the pair playing two marijuana-addled students attempting to survive at Harvard. Method Man and Redman also appear in the Def Jam Vendetta video game series, often as Tag Team partners, and briefly had their own television sitcom, Method & Red, on Fox during the 2004-2005 season.
Redman is also featured on the video game "True Crime: New York City", in which the central character interacts with an undercover street cop based upon the rap star, who also provides the voice for him.

Yeah, Gilla!
(Right now, right now, right now, right now)
Yeah, Gilla!
(Right now, right now, right now, right now)
Ladies and gentlemen Al Green!
[Verse 1: Redman]
I'mma get this - shhhhhhh! - up, poppin' like "Yeah!"
Chicken drawers be droppin' like "Yeah!"
I keep a dirty apartment like "Yeah!"
Fall when I hit the target like "Yeah!"
Y'know how it be, yo!
Rep that hood, Clint Easthood
Neighborhoods never sleep good, I make it understood
My shoes too big
Violate, you'll be gettin' your news through B.I.G.
A big rig for a big kid - that's me!
I should've got a scholarship for Athlete's Feet
Duck Down - breathe, pure uncut
I can bag it in dimes, "Freakniks" like "Beat Stree"t
A-T-L, beat-beat, what the deal?
You "Okay" like Ciara, let's freak for now!
Gotta' build my clientele like Nino
Hip hop's "Departer", I "Deboe" the East Coast
Three's a crowd, keep two in the peep coat
When I in, I do it again like TiVo
Doctor, bill it!
Blocks gonna feel it!
Def Jam, feel it!
Street team, deal it!
I'm back in the game again - ughhhh! - y'all
My money kinda' short, so I'm comin' for y'all
G-I-Double L-A, be out in L.A.
"Child" was "Destine" like 'Chelle be and Kelly
[Chorus x2: Redman (Al Green sample)]
Hold up! Wait a minute! Tell me again!
Yo, when you gonna drop it?
(Right now, right now, right now, right now)
Not now, but right now! GILLA!
Not now, but right now! GILLA!
[Verse 2: Redman]
You know what it is!
Yo dogg! I be in the UK, gettin' boo-tay
You at home, gettin' loose change for a bouquet
Too late, got cha girl by my two braids
And a sidekick 'cause the chick go two ways!
Heyyyy! Doctor "Inda Buildin'"
Never get gassed when the camera filmin'
"Blaow! Blaow!" - Don't know the half
As soon as somethin' "Brrrrrrrat!" - Haul ASS!
Me, I'm never scared, I die on my two feet
And you confused like a Jew wearin' kufis
I'll rip your MC, no matter whose street
Call ?? and how Doc abuse loose-leaf
Yeah, I bought a jeep sellin' loosies
GILLA! The illest since Thrilla Of Manilla
Chickens on yo' block, know I'm that GILLA!
Yo - ugh! - got Botox and mine's on liquor!
[Chorus x2: Redman (Al Green sample)]
Hold up! Wait a minute! Tell me again!
When you gonna drop it?
(Right now, right now, right now, right now)
Not now, but right now! GILLA!
Not now, but right now! GILLA!
[Verse 3: Redman]
Yo, if your block on fire
I come through and put it out with my saliva
Through each paragraph in ultraviolet
Got neighborhoods - "Hi dogg, I'm the palette"
Blunt or a chalice, Red is the Wildest
I'm on some new shhhh!
You on my old shhh!
You just confused it
Doc is the Boss here, nobody move now!
Method: Desert Storm, leavin' no clue around!
Smell manure now, Redman stinkin'
AA meetings, my ink-pen drinkin'
Dead men don't blink, I "Stay Alive"
Since a Bee Gee, I kept "Fire In My Eye"
Erick Sermon back, homey never left
Now the beats he bang, make you rubberneck
I'll bounce you like a voice-check
I'm a "Bulldog" like I'm a Ge-Ge-Georgetown HOYA!
[Chorus x4: Redman (Al Green sample)]
Hold up! Wait a minute! Tell me again!
When you gonna drop it?
(Right now, right now, right now, right now)
Not now, but right now! GILLA!
Not now, but right now! GILLA!

The song "Rite Now" by Redman starts with a sample of Al Green's song “Right Now, Right Now” and the rapper shouts out his own name and his Gilla House crew. The lyrics of the song describe Redman’s experiences as a rapper in the music industry. The first verse of the song focuses on his tough rapping persona and his connection to his neighborhood, while the second verse highlights his international success and his disregard for his haters. The third verse touches on his longevity as a rapper and his creative partnership with Erick Sermon. The chorus, which repeats the sampled hook from Al Green’s song, expresses his desire to drop new music immediately, emphasizing his urgency to release music and his confidence in his skills as a rapper.
Overall, the song showcases Redman’s bravado and skill as a rapper, as he rhymes with a fast flow and clever wordplay. The homage to Al Green adds a soulful flair to the otherwise hard-hitting track. The use of the chorus hook as a repeated chant implies that Redman is a force to be reckoned with and his music is not to be overlooked.
