Help
Reflections Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Look me in my eyes
I hear all these lies
You're nowhere in sight
Coward, sheep to the slaughter
Under the mask you have nothing to offer
Watch the words that leave your mouth
Deaths hanging over my head
Like a mother fucking
Ten ton guillotine
Nothing is what it seems
All of my dreams
Suddenly deceive me
Put a knife in my back would you please
Fake love
No blood from a brother
Good riddance
You are the worst type of person
Giving off the weight of your burden
Help, help
Can I be someone else
Please take me
Away from myself
I tried, I tried
Nothing left to do
Just lie down and die
Why god tell me why
All the wrong ones must
Suffer inside
Chosen to be broken
Help, help
Can I be someone else
Please fucking take me
Away from myself
The lyrics of "Help" by Reflections delve into themes of betrayal, deception, inner struggles, and the desire for escape from one's own reality. The song starts off with a direct confrontation, with the singer asking the person to speak honestly to their face and not hide behind lies or deception. The mention of being nowhere in sight indicates a sense of abandonment or feeling alone in facing these challenges.
The lyrics then shift to a more aggressive tone, calling out the person for being a coward and likening them to a sheep being led to slaughter. The warning to watch the words that leave one's mouth suggests the power of words and the consequences of negative actions. The imagery of a guillotine hanging over the singer's head conveys a sense of impending doom and the weight of their struggles.
The mention of fake love and the absence of support from a supposed brother further emphasizes the theme of betrayal and disappointment in relationships. The singer expresses a desire to be freed from the burden of negativity and toxicity that surrounds them. The line "Putting a knife in my back, would you please" symbolizes the pain of betrayal and backstabbing by someone close to them.
The chorus speaks to the desperation and longing for a different reality, a plea to be someone else and escape from the suffering and anguish they are experiencing. The repetition of the word "help" underscores the deep yearning for assistance or relief from the overwhelming pain. The sense of hopelessness and resignation is captured in the lines "Just lie down and die / Why god tell me why / All the wrong ones must / Suffer inside," reflecting the singer's despair and questioning of unjust suffering.
Overall, "Help" by Reflections paints a vivid picture of inner turmoil, betrayal, and the desire for redemption or transformation. The raw emotion and powerful imagery in the lyrics convey a message of yearning for escape from a toxic environment and seeking solace or respite from the overwhelming challenges faced by the singer.
