In 1981, Grzegorz Ciechowski, taking over the as the new head, moved the group's sound from prog rock closer to New Wave and rechristened the band Republika. He did not, however, completely abandon the band's roots; rather, he adapted Ian Anderson's "heavy-metal flute" into a "New-Wave flute" which featured prominently in such early tracks as Nowe Sytuacje and Kombinat.
The group disbanded in 2001, following Ciechowski's death (cardiac aneurysm).

na łóżku wziętym na godziny dwie
przecięły się orbity planet nam
nikt katastrofy nie przewidział tej
podobno tylko raz na milion lat
tak dzieje się że ciała dwa
spadają nagle w siebie chcą czy nie
podobno tylko raz na milion lat
tak dzieje się że pierwszy raz
wnikając w siebie nagle wiemy że
świat zmienił się i nie ma odwrotu
czy zdajesz sobie sprawę z tego że
deszcz meteorów moich w tobie gna
podobno tylko raz na milion lat
tak dzieje się że ciała dwa
spadają nagle w siebie chcą czy nie
i płoną tak kochając się
podobno tylko raz na milion lat
tak dzieje się że pierwszy raz
wnikając w siebie nagle wiemy że
świat zmienił się
podobno
raz na milion
raz na milion świetlnych lat
zdarza się to co spotkało
i co trzyma tutaj nas
tylko raz na milion
raz na milion świetlnych lat
najpiękniejsza katastrofa - eksploduje supernova...
The lyrics to Republika’s “Raz Na Milion Lat” tell a poetic story of two celestial bodies that collide and burn as they fall in love with each other. The song describes a mysterious hotel where nobody has slept in years and where unexpected events take place. The first verse delves into the concept of cosmic collisions, with “the orbits of our planets intersecting” in a way that leads to an unforeseen catastrophe. The second verse then specifies that these rare events only happen "once in a million years," emphasizing just how special and fated this moment between two bodies is. In the chorus, the lyrics repeat this point and explain how this kind of impact cannot be undone or prevented once it occurs.
