Revelation Theory's members first met in 1997 at Merrimack College in North Andover, and all moved to New York City in 2001 hoping for a career as a band.
In 2002, bassist Matty, a student at New York University, completed the quartet. They recorded a demo EP and began touring; in 2005 they were tapped for the Girls Gone Wild Rocks America tour in 2005.
The group signed to EMI subsidiary Element Records, releasing a full-length, Truth Is Currency, in 2005 and opening on tour with Breaking Benjamin and Fall Out Boy.[1] A single from Truth Is Currency, "Slowburn", hit #27 on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 2005.
They toured the US with Saliva and Evanescence in 2006 and also toured Europe with Evanescence. In 2007, the band toured with Hinder, Papa Roach, and Buckcherry.
The now renamed Rev Theory is currently in the studio recording their sophomore album with new label Interscope Records entitled Light It Up. The release date is scheduled for June 10, 2008. Their upcoming single "Light It Up" was one of two official theme songs for World Wrestling Entertainment's WrestleMania XXIV pay-per-view event. Patrick D won the "Light It Up" contest & introduced Rev Theory on stage at Thunder Field during Wrestlemania weekend. "Hell Yeah" is the official theme song for WWE One Night Stand 2008[5]. Together, WWE and WJRR have put together an exclusive widget to promote the event. Former WWE Diva Ashley Massaro appears in the music video for "Hell Yeah." The song has also become known for being the intro song for the Detroit Red Wings hockey team as well as the Cartoon Network sporting event, SlamBall (Censored as Hey Yeah).
Rev Theory have recently announced their tour with Flyleaf and Seether.
Rev Theory has also confirmed via press release [6] that they wrote "Voices" specifically for WWE superstar Randy Orton.
Interscope Geffen A&M Records and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, have joined forces to premiere the hard rock act Rev Theory’s new music video exclusively on the Xbox LIVE Video Store. This will make Rev Theory’s hit single “Hell Yeah” the first ever video premiere on Xbox LIVE.

Something New
Rev Theory Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Now there’s no one left to listen, no one left to listen
Take a chance, a fucked up consequence,
When there’s no one left to listen, no one left to listen
[Chorus]
Right now we’re taking control
Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new
Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new
Something new, something new, something new
Ṗressed the knife and feed the sacrifice
When there’s no one left to listen, no one left to listen
Say goodbye, you will die tonight
And now everyone will listen, everyone will listen
[Chorus]
'Cause it’s never enough to know the truth
When you lost all you know, there’s nothing to lose
Right now we’re taking control
Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new
Right now we’re taking control
Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new
Right now we’re taking control
Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new
Something new, something new, something new
The lyrics of Rev Theory's "Something New" speaks of the struggle to break free from monotonous routines and the desire to take control of one's life. The opening lines "Love to hate repeating my mistakes, Now there’s no one left to listen, no one left to listen," reflect the frustration of feeling stuck in old patterns that no longer serve a purpose. The reference to "no one left to listen" implies that the singer has tried to express themselves but has gone unheard.
The chorus "Right now we're taking control, Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new," is a call to action to take charge of life and make a change. They are no longer content with waiting for something new to happen and are ready to take control and make it happen. The bridge, "Press the knife and feed the sacrifice, When there's no one left to listen, no one left to listen. Say goodbye, you will die tonight, And now everyone will listen, everyone will listen," contains violent imagery but can be interpreted as a metaphorical action of shedding the old to make way for the new and making a statement that cannot be ignored.
Overall, the lyrics of "Something New" advocate for taking control of one's life and not being afraid to make changes. The repetition of "something new" in the chorus emphasizes the importance of seeking out new experiences and breaking away from stagnation.

The singer has made mistakes in the past but they haven't learned from them and continue to repeat them. They have developed a love-hate relationship with this pattern.
Now there’s no one left to listen, no one left to listen
The singer has lost their audience or people who were willing to listen to them, be it friends or fans.
Take a chance, a fucked up consequence, When there’s no one left to listen, no one left to listen
Even though there's no one to listen, the singer is willing to take risks and face the consequences even if those consequences are terrible.
[Chorus] Right now we’re taking control Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new Right now we’re taking control Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new Something new, something new, something new

Say goodbye, you will die tonight And now everyone will listen, everyone will listen
This line might be figurative but it portrays the depth of the singer's desperation to be heard. They are willing to take drastic measures, even if it means killing themselves or someone else, and believe that such an act works like a magnet that draws people's attention towards them.
[Chorus] 'Cause it’s never enough to know the truth When you lost all you know, there’s nothing to lose
The singer believes that the truth alone doesn't lead to any desirable outcome if their life is already in shambles. If you've already lost everything, you might as well take risks to make a comeback.
Right now we’re taking control Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new Right now we’re taking control Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new Right now we’re taking control Tired of waiting, tired of waiting for something new Something new, something new, something new
