Lapse of Reality
Ring of Fire Lyrics

Feeling like my soul is fading
Emptiness reveals my heart
Everything becomes forsaken
I stare at these walls surrounding me
Each tick of the clock is misery
If I lost my memory
Blinded momentarily
A lapse of reality
Now the light has come and gone
Feeling like my life is broken
Useless words just come and go
Lost before they can be spoken
I try to explain impulsively
With lines of insane geometry
If I lost my memory
Would you still remember me
Blinded momentarily
A lapse of reality
The lyrics of "Lapse of Reality" by Ring of Fire suggest feelings of loneliness, emptiness, and a sense of losing one's grip on reality. The opening lines of the song paint a picture of a dark and misty scene in which the singer feels like their soul is fading away into nothingness. This is followed by a sense of desolation, as the emptiness reveals the singer's heart, leaving them feeling forsaken.
The second verse suggests a feeling of desperation and confusion, as the singer stares at the walls surrounding them, and each tick of the clock feels like misery. They consider the possibility of losing their memory and wonder if anyone would still remember them. This is followed by a sense of losing control, as they describe feeling blinded momentarily, experiencing a lapse of reality.
The final lines of the song bring a sense of resignation, as the singer describes feeling like their life is broken and useless words just come and go, lost before they are even spoken. They try to explain their situation with lines of insane geometry, suggesting a feeling of being lost and unable to make sense of their thoughts.
Overall, "Lapse of Reality" explores themes of loneliness, isolation, and a sense of losing control over one's own thoughts and emotions. The lyrics suggest that the singer feels trapped and unable to escape from their own thoughts, leading to a sense of despair and confusion.
