If We're in Love

If we're in love
If we're in love we should make love
Where the sun it never sets
And where the wind forgets
I will forget you
Where the sky goes on for miles
When the supreme mysteries
Decide to reveal all to us
And make an endless night
Still I will come to remember
If we're in love we should make love
If we're in love we should make love
If we're in love we should make love
When will we be lovers?
If we're in love we should make love
If we're in love we should make love
If we're in love we should make love
When will that be?
I'm gonna forget you
When the rivers stop and turn to run
To where they've begun
Back up the mountainside
When the sun it comes to the night to play
And like I do just sleep all day
When the moon and the stars turn to the light
Not in the dark of night
But in the morning sky
When the roses turn to bloom
Not in June but in the bitter cold of December
There's not a
There's not a joy in this whole world to give
There's not a joy
As lovely as the bird that flew away
Last night I
I think I dreamt a
Beautiful song
But when I woke
The birds had flown
And it was gone
If we're in love we should make love
If we're in love we should make love
If we’re in love we should make love
When will we be lovers?
If we're in love we should make love
If we're in love we should make love
If we're in love we should make love
When will that be?
The song "If We're in Love" by Róisín Murphy is a hauntingly beautiful ballad that speaks to themes of love, loss, and the passage of time. The first verse speaks of forgetting someone in a far-off place where the sun never sets and the wind never blows. Murphy sets up a melancholic mood by painting a picture of a place that is both infinite and empty, suggesting that even in such a vast landscape, there is no escape from the memory of a lost love.
The second verse takes a different approach, with Murphy using vivid imagery to suggest that time will eventually erase all memories. From rivers running backwards to roses blooming in the dead of winter, the singer suggests that anything is possible, but nothing is permanent. Despite this sense of impermanence, the song comes back to the idea that if two people are truly in love, they should make love. In such a fleeting, ephemeral world, it is romantic and hopeful to believe in the power of connection and physicality.
Overall, "If We're in Love" is a poignant meditation on love and loss that captures the complexity of human emotion in just a few short minutes. Despite its melancholic overtones, the song ultimately strikes a hopeful note, suggesting that even in the face of overwhelming odds, human connection and physical intimacy can bring joy and meaning to our lives.

@ArtificialSoul
I've made this 'remix' myself. I've used the album-version for that, pitched it up al little bit, cut some fragments to make it synchron with the video and added a little bit of echo.
@cakes3958
I love it! It’s even better than the original
@ArtificialSoul
@Cakes Thanks! It is actually the original album version, only slightly speeded up to make it a bit more uptempo. (Also it's interesting to hear the timbre of Roisín's vocals remain quite the same because of this. The vocals of other singers often change completely just by slightly speeding up or slowing down their tracks.)
For the rest a little bit of echo and some cutting to match it with the video. It's more like a 7" edit than a remix.
@raghibcarlos
It’s the only way I can listen to it now ✨
