Throughout his childhood, James would sing regularly, but never in public.[2] He eventually moved to New York where he was influenced by his aunt, a former singer for Prince.[3] His love for the album Purple Rain landed him in a studio at the age of 19.[3] His skills as a songwriter began with the song Portrait, leading up to a credit on the single Use Me by R&B singer Miguel[4] after forming a bond with him on MySpace.[5]
James performed in and around New York with artists such as Luke James and Wynter Gordon. In 2013 he released his first EP, a three-part entitled Coke, Jack and Cadillacs. Each part represented important themes in his life - first love, first drink, first car.[2] The WP featured songs that included A.D.I.D.A.S. and Pledge Allegiance. It also featured Asher Roth on the song Lisa.[6]
James signed with ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records in 2015 and subsequently released Permission, his first single from a major record label, reaching #13 on the Adult R&B Songs chart.[1] His debut album, "ELDORADO" was released May 27, 2016. It debuted at #3 on the Billboard R&B albums chart

Ro James Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're the only one in my eyes
And if you try to leave, I'm gon' find you
Running through the back of my mind
I will search high and low, just to find you
Even though she'll (?)
I don't know what you've got under baby
Pussy, money, weed
Money, weed
Money, weed
Oh oh
Money, weed
Oh, oh
Money, weed
Pussy, money, weed
Money, weed
Money, weed
Oh oh
Money, weed
Oh, oh
Money, weed
In Ro James's song GA$ the singer expresses an obsessive love towards someone whom they believe is unique and irreplaceable. The person is so important to the singer that they claim they will "search high and low" to find them should they ever try to leave. The individual is constantly on their mind and they simply cannot let them go. The chorus of the song is made up of the repeated phrase "Pussy, money, weed", which could be interpreted in a number of ways. One possible interpretation is that the singer believes that none of these things are as important or fulfilling as the person they are singing about. In this sense, the phrase functions as a kind of mantra that reinforces the singer's focus on their love interest.
The second interpretation is that the phrase represents materialistic values and the singer is expressing that none of these things matter to them. The chorus repeats the phrase a total of six times suggesting that the person they love is worth more than anything listed in the chorus. Moreover, the choice of words in the chorus indicates that the song is directed towards an adult audience with swear words and drug references.
In conclusion, Ro James's song GA$ is an exploration of obsessive love and the lengths that a person will go to hold onto the one they love. The use of the chorus where the phrase "pussy, money, weed" is repeated reinforces the singer's priorities over the vices of life. It can be interpreted as a deep love song for someone who holds an important place in their life such that they would never trade for any worldly possession or vice.

Through his aunt, a former singer for Prince, James learned to embrace the idea of different by discovering his musical muse in Purple Rain. βHis ability to be himself and not really care what anyone else thought, I just related,β he says. βYou feel like youβre a part of the crowd and you have to fit [in], but you really donβt fit.β James landed in a studio for the first time at 19 years old, but honed his songwriting prowess through the reading and writing punishments his mother would hand him for bad behavior.
