Some Like It Hot
Robert Palmer Lyrics

I know you're qualified, are you gonna do it
Don't be so circumscribed, are you gonna do it
Just get yourself untied, are you gonna do it
Feel the heat pushing you to decide
Feel the heat burning you up, ready or not
Some feel the heat and decide that they can't go on
Some like it hot, but you can't tell how hot 'til you try
Some like it hot, so let's turn up the heat 'til we fry
The girl is at your side, are you gonna do it
She wants to be your bride, are you gonna do it
She wants to multiply, are you gonna do it
I know you won't be satisfied until you do it
Feel the heat pushing you to decide
Feel the heat burning you up, ready or not
Some like it hot and some sweat when the heat is on
Some feel the heat and decide that they can't go on
Some like it hot, but you can't tell how hot 'til you try
Some like it hot, so let's turn up the heat 'til we fry
Feel the heat pushing you to decide
Feel the heat burning you up, ready or not
Some like it hot and some sweat when the heat is on
Some feel the heat and decide that they can't go on
Some like it hot, but you can't tell how hot 'til you try
Some like it hot, so let's turn up the heat 'til we fry
Some like it hot, some like it hot
Some like it hot, some like it hot
Some like it hot, some like it hot
Some like it hot, some like it hot
The lyrics to Robert Palmer's "Some Like It Hot" are all about temptation, passion, and the decision to act on those feelings. The song starts by asking the listener if they are willing to "multiply," which is a metaphor for giving in to their desires. The lyrics implore the listener to not be too cautious and to let themselves be free. The chorus proclaims that some people enjoy the intensity of passion ("Some like it hot"), while others are overwhelmed by it ("Some feel the heat and decide that they can't go on"). The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the importance of making the decision to act on one's passions, even if it may come with consequences.
The lyrics take on a more romantic tone in the second half of the song. The lines "The girl is at your side, are you gonna do it / She wants to be your bride, are you gonna do it" suggest that the decision to act on one's feelings may lead to a deeper commitment. The repetition of the chorus here reinforces the idea that both parties must be willing to take risks and embrace passion to have a successful relationship. Throughout the song, the heat is used as a metaphor for passion, representing the intensity and power of the emotions that come with it.
