One Thousand Times Blind
Rollins Band Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

1000 times blind, see me fallin' see me hit the floor
1000 times blind, see me fallin' see me lose my mind
Don't touch me you'll touch yourself
Don't find me you'll lose yourself
Don't love me you'll hate yourself
Don't hold me you'll drop yourself
Yeah!
1000 times blind, see me throw myself to the floor
1000 faces lookin' back at you
1000 times blind
I reach inside I can't feel myself
I open my eyes I can't see myself
I scream out loud I can't hear myself
I try to recognize I don't know myself
Yeah!
1000 times blind, I get cutoff from myself

Smashed up, cut up, 1000 pieces
1000 times blind...

Overall Meaning

In Rollins Band's song "1000 Times Blind," the lyrics depict a powerful representation of a person losing touch with themselves and reality. Throughout the song, the character is seen "falling" and "throwing" themselves to the floor, revealing that they have lost control of their life. The repeated line "1000 times blind" represents that the character has lost touch with the world around them and is struggling to find their way back. The phrase "don't touch me you'll touch yourself" suggests that the character is avoiding contact to prevent damaging others as they fall deeper into their own destructive mindset.

The lyrics also suggest that the character is feeling lost and isolated from themselves. In lines like "I reach inside I can't feel myself" and "I try to recognize I don't know myself," the lyrics convey that the character has disconnected from their emotions and identity. The repetition of the phrase "1000 faces looking back at you" indicates that the character is feeling judged or watched by society, adding to the feeling of disconnect and loneliness.

Overall, "1000 Times Blind" is a powerful song about losing control and the struggle to regain it. The lyrics depict a character battling with their own mind and disconnection from the world around them.

Thanks for posting this. This is one of the most important albums of its decade. The musicianship on this record is unsettling. I love the production Ian MacKaye did on it. I don't think the band ever sounded better. The sound is thick and clear at the same time.

Man he performed some epic shows at the old 9:30 club. This is a classic album. The end of silence is great too in my opinion. More of a metal edge on that one.
