Here Is Love
Ron and Shelly Hamilton Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's very clear, our love is here to stay
Not for a year but ever and a day
The radio and the telephone and the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies and in time may go

But oh, my dear, our love is here to stay
Together we're going a long, long way
In time the Rockies may crumble, Gibraltar may tumble
They're only made of clay
But our love is here to stay

In time the Rockies may crumble, Gibraltar may tumble

They're only made of clay
But our love is here to stay

Overall Meaning

The song "Here Is Love" by Ron and Shelly Hamilton is a beautiful ode to everlasting love. The first verse begins with the assertion that their love is not just a passing fancy, but something that is here to stay, not just for a year but forever. They draw a contrast between the ephemeral nature of pop culture references like the radio, telephone and movies and the enduring quality of their love. These things may come and go, but their love is an unchanging constant.

The second verse reinforces this message, stating that they are going to be together for a long time, no matter what the future may bring. There is a beautiful metaphor here, with the imagery of two people traversing a path through life, hand in hand, steadily moving forward. The lines "In time the Rockies may crumble, Gibraltar may tumble, They're only made of clay, But our love is here to stay" are particularly poignant, as they express that even the most solid and permanent things, like mountains and rock formations, may eventually erode and disappear, but their love will persist.

Overall, "Here Is Love" is a touching tribute to the power of love to overcome the transience of life. It celebrates the joy found in the experience of love that is deep, abiding, and everlasting.

Thank you -so- much for uploading this song! I've sung this in my church's choir a few times and it's one of my favorites! I sang along (couldn't resist; I love the bass' part ^^) until 2:52. That part made me cry and I'm not ashamed to admit it. My voice caught and everything. It's just so powerful! Definitely one of Ron Hamilton's best. :)
