Rufio released their debut recording in 2001 on The Militia Group label, Perhaps, I Suppose. The band returned in June 2003 with MCMLXXXV (released on the Nitro label), which was recorded with the aid of producer Nick Rasculinecz who has also recorded with Foo Fighters and Rancid. Rufio went on to play on the Warped Tour that summer following the release of their second album. Their third album The Comfort of Home was released in July 2005. Again, the band went on to join tour that fall with MxPx and Relient K after the "The Comfort of Home" release.
In late January, 2006 bassist Jon Berry and drummer Mike Jimenez left the ban due to creative differences. Following the loss of these two members the band pulled out of their tour with No Use For A Name in early 2006. While no official statement had then been made regarding a breakup, in a 2006 interview, No Use for a Name acknowledged as much.
On Thursday 5th April 2007 the band announced on their MySpace page that they were to have an official farewell show on June 1st 2007 at The Glass House, Pomona CA followed by a South American tour. The statement in full reads: "Farewell show and South American tour. well... its been a while friends... and we've finally decided that its time to do an official farewell show with all the members of Rufio on June 1st. Goodbye
Rufio Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're shaking restless in thoughts.
Goodbye my lonely life,
You're making dreams come true,
They're true.
Goodbye my lonely life,
You're shaking restless in thoughts.
You're making dreams come true, true.
They're true, they're true.
So hold my hand,
And say goodbye.
All that I wanted from you,
Was something that I could feel less when I need.
Stumbling over myself,
I can't be on my own
Well, goodbye my lonely life,
You're shaking restless in thoughts.
Goodbye my lonely life,
You're making dreams come true,
They're true.
I can't depend on following hopes and dreams,
When I can feel it all.
I'm following over fighting for my beliefs,
When I can feel it
all.
The lyrics of Rufio's song 'Goodbye' depict a person saying farewell to their lonely life. They acknowledge that their lonely life is making them restless and causing them to stumble over themselves. However, this lonely life is also enabling them to dream and to make those dreams come true. The person is conflicted because they do not want to let go of the good aspects of their lonely life, but they know they need to say goodbye in order to move on and not be dependent on their hopes and dreams.
The lyrics suggest that the person is hesitant to say goodbye to their lonely life because they believe they need it to inspire their dreams. However, they also realize they cannot depend solely on their dreams to make them happy. They need to learn to feel and experience all aspects of life, including the pain of fighting for their beliefs. The person recognizes that they cannot be on their own, as they need the support of others to make the journey.
Overall, the lyrics of Rufio's 'Goodbye' express the human need for connection, both to oneself and to others, and the struggle between holding onto what feels good and letting go to grow.
