Catch Me if You Can
Runblebee Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No turning back
We are born to dream
In a world full of seeing
What we never could reach
Air time makes on the wind, I'd be
Like life, right by
Just a bloody scene
One mind, too wild
Stuck in divinity
Hawk tail, wing, claw
Heaven sent a jessy
A speed rush tweak
To a melancholy, victory
Your chance, don't stand
No one near
My class of heat
The rule of the wind
Is to never get beat
Don't hedge, don't hog
You're put to the test
Like Jet, as hawk
I'll rattle your nest
I never come down
I'm high alone
Bred from a genie
With wings and throne
Jet fire hawk
The sky is me
All for the speed
I was born to be

Catch me if you can
There's no turning back
Reach but never catch
Catch me if you can
You can't fathom that
Wonders you can't have

Catch me if you can
Catch me if you can

No turning back
We are born to dream
In a world full of seeing
What we never could reach
Air time makes on the wind, I'd be
Like life, right by
Just a blur, you see
One mind, too wild
Stuck in divinity
Hawk tail, wing, claw
Heaven sent a jessy
A speed rush tweak
To a melancholy, victory
Your chance, don't stand

Chaos in the emeralds
Life is ephemeral
What are you going to do?
Nothing is perpetual
World domination
Advanced technology
Haven't got that interest
In that form of glory
Put me in the air
And my speed will leave
All in a shine
Like a miracle weave
I just won't stop
The treasure's with me
I said it before I was born to be

Catch me if you can
There's no turning back
Reach but never catch
Catch me if you can
You can't fathom that
Wonders you can't have

Catch me if you can
We are born to dream
Nothing can be done
Catch me if you can
There's no turning back
Reach but never catch
You can't fathom that
Wonders you can't have

Catch me...

All fandub jokes aside this is seriously one of my favorite stories in the franchise

It has some fun humor while feeling natural to the characters something that is hard for this series to get right. Characterization is on point (I like how Knuckles is the first to call Eggman out on his BS, shows nice character development for him). All of the character motives seem fitting, and it adheres to continuity (It was smart for Sonic to bring up "The Eggmanland Project" to make sure we remember it when Unleashed released later that year.)

But the main things I love are its mystery and world-building. The only game-long mysteries done in this series is Chaos' motive and origin in SA1 (which most will have pieced together by Knuckles story), Emerl’s purpose in Sonic Battle Which was some good but is hampered by the game’s structure, and Shadow's past in his game (which was handled... poorly). While here the purpose of "The Ark of the Cosmos" and "The lightless black" are constantly questioned throughout the story with subtle hints (especially in the song "Un-Gravitify") before the big reveal before the climax.

I know some people are bothered by changing the Babaoniyans from Genie descendants to Alien descendants but I'm fine with it for three reasons

1. I saw the ending of the Babylon Story in Zero Gravity before the original

2. The Babylon Guardian fight in the first game showed the genie guardian as a result of technology, not magic. Plus you could easily marry the origins. If there's a Planet of Black Starfish I could buy there is a planet of Genies.

3. On top of that it gives the explanation as to why people in Sonic's universe would wish on Stars which is great additional lore and world-building
