Darlin
Ryan Bingham Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Darlin′
Hold it inside
Never let your fire die
'Cause I don′t wanna lose my way
Here I can no longer stay
Without you

Darlin'
Let's dance on top of the wire
I′ll try to keep myself in line
And feel everything that you know
And keep my troubles offa your toes
So dance with me

It all comes down with the rain
In the mornin′, darlin'
There′s no one here left to blame
Anymore
It all comes down with the rain
In the mornin', darlin′
There's no one here left to blame

So dance with me...

Darlin′
Hold me tonight
Never let your fire die
'Cause I don't wanna lose my way
And here I can no longer stay
Without you

It all comes down with the rain
In the mornin′, darlin′
There's no one here left to blame
Anymore
It all comes down with the rain
In the mornin′, darlin'
There′s no one here left to blame

Anymore
So dance with me

Overall Meaning

The song "Darlin'" by Ryan Bingham is a heartfelt plea from one person to another to hold on to their passion, their "fire," and to dance with them despite the trials and tribulations that might come their way. The singer acknowledges that they cannot "stay without you," recognizing the importance of the other person in their life, and promises to keep their own "troubles" at bay so as not to burden their partner. The imagery of rain in the song is used as a metaphor for inevitable difficulties and challenges that everyone faces, and the singer pleads with their partner to continue holding on to their fire through it all, emphasizing the importance of being together and not wanting to "lose [their] way."

The lines "Let's dance on top of the wire / I'll try to keep myself in line / And feel everything that you know / And keep my troubles offa your toes" suggest the importance of mutual support and sharing burdens in a relationship, with the singer striving to keep themselves on track and avoid bringing their issues into the relationship, all while fully experiencing the emotions shared by their partner. The repetition of "so dance with me" at the end of the song can be interpreted as a plea for companionship and solidarity through hardship, a way of moving forward together despite any obstacles.

I have “Lost my way” almost 7 years now. I lost my Dad in 96’ and his brother stepped up and was always always always there for me. My uncle fought cancer in 2013 and he couldn’t take the pain and ended it himself. Since then, I have been alone and lost just existing and not living life. For those of you that have family, good or bad, don’t take it for granted. Some of us have no family
