Compared to BLANKEY JET CITY’s often aggressive rock sound, SHERBETS musical approach is generally of much calmer nature. While their music is centered around Asai’s guitar and voice, Fucci’s keyboard and backing vocals are just as integral to the band’s distinctive sound. Asai writes all of the band’s lyrics, and often portrays dreamy landscapes akin to the ones displayed by his many paintings and illustrations.
In May 2011, it was announced that the band would cease activities after the release of one final album – titled "FREE" – in July of the same year. In the announcement, Asai stated that it was dubious that the four members would perform together in the future. A few days later, another announcement made it clear that the band members had changed their minds, and decided not to disband after all. An interview later revealed that there had been tension within the band related to Asai's decision to focus on his garage rock project PONTIACS.

The song "ゴースト" by SHERBETS tells the story of the singer's desire to live in a deserted amusement park with their lover. The comfortable and familiar amusement park from their childhood days is now dilapidated and abandoned, but the singer sees it as a romantic and intriguing location for a new life with their significant other. They describe various parts of the park, such as the bar on the second floor, the fountain that no longer flows, and the haunted house, as well as their plan to leave on a pirate ship to a tropical island.
As the song progresses, the singer and their lover spend their nights on the beach, counting the stars and giving each one a name. They find a colorful table that extends endlessly and sit in the middle of the empty restaurant, where their partner reads out small notes and doodles. The singer feels that by touching those notes, their significant other can forget everything and be reborn in this new world. They conclude that they both do not need to touch it because it would be enough to have each other and the memories they share.
The song expresses a bittersweet longing for a lost time and a new beginning. The deserted amusement park represents the nostalgia felt for childhood memories, while the desire to start a new life in it represents the hope for a better future with one's lover.
