SOiL Lyrics

Who am I but a man that wants to die again
Felt fine till you opened up my sin
Sit back realize where we've been
We see you armies moving in again
A police action or genocide again
We see the past being hid again
Frustrations seeping in again
We're trusting lies instead
Of the truth my friend
We see the blackness of your sins
Take a look back to where we've been
Our eyes read between your lines
Your actions are as loud as mime's
Red tape seals our lips again
Take a look back to where we've been
You make me want to stand up
And scream I want to be free
Never think about the unthinkable
1600 and her backwards dance [repeat]
The lyrics of SOiL's song F-Hole appear to be tackling multiple themes. Firstly, the lyrics suggest that the person is feeling emotionally drained, and the singer/non-speaker is relating to them. They observe that the individual's 'feelings are running dry again' and that they're 'a man that wants to die again.' The singer/non-speaker is trying to empathize with them and encourages them to acknowledge where they're at and the journey that has led them there. They believe that it is essential to 'realize where we've been.'
Continuing, the song's lyrics switch focus to global issues like war, genocide, and corruption. The person switches their attention from listening to the individual's troubles to observing the significant problems in today's world. They comment on 'armies moving in again’ and imply that chaos is repeating itself. The song tells a listener to reflect on the dark parts of history that have led to the corrupt world we live in. The line 'your actions are as loud as mime's' signifies that everyone's actions have a significant impact and it is essential to acknowledge the role we play in society.
The lyrics' final section focuses on breaking free from this negativity and corruption. It calls why the person wants to be free, to break free from the chains keeping them mentally and emotionally bound. The words '1600 and her backward dance' symbolize the political history of the United States and how we sometimes feel ourselves going backward despite progress. Overall, the lyrics of SOiL's song F-Hole urge us to reflect on our problems, how we've reached them, and to work towards a brighter future.
