The song "Malik Ya Hilwa" by Sabah Fakhri is a classic Arabic love song that expresses the intense emotions of love and desire. The title "Malik Ya Hilwa" translates to "You're Sweet, My King" which is a term of endearment for the beloved. The lyrics of the song convey the idea that the person who is being addressed is the embodiment of love and desire, and that his or her beauty is a source of temptation and fascination for others.
The first two lines "Malik Ya Hilwa Malik / Huwa Algharam Ghair Halik" (You're sweet, my king / He's love, you're not like him) expresses the singer's devotion and love to the beloved, while acknowledging that he or she is different from other suitors. The lines "Wallah Halik Fitna Alayk A'dalik / Lima Rawouki Bijamalik Ya Ayni" (Your beauty is a temptation, your pain is a torment / My eyes are dazzled by your beauty) highlights the captivating allure of the beloved's appearance that not only provokes desire, but also causes a sense of pain and longing in the singer.
The chorus "Malik Ya Hilwa Malik / Huwa Algharam Ghair Halik" (You're sweet, my king / He's love, you're not like him) is repeated throughout the song, serving as a reminder of the singer's adoration for his or her beloved. The line "Inta Hayati Wa Rooh Qalbi / Bahibbak Lakin Eyh Dhanbi" (You're my life and soul of my heart / I love you, but what's my mistake?) also emphasizes the depth of the singer's feelings of love and the sense of helplessness that comes with it.
