As a teenager Samuel met and was exposed to the skillful worship leading of Kevin Prosch. And combined with several profound experiences of God, he started to write songs and lead worship for the church. Always passionate about the presence of God, and songs that speak to the soul, he interned with Darren Clarke at the Burn Service in San Luis Obispo, California and on returning to the UK started to work under his father Chris Lane at the Vineyard Church in St.Albans. Samuel co-founded ‘the Burn Church’ and had his first worship song released on Vineyard Record’s ‘Holy’ album produced by Brenton Brown in 2002.
Since then Vineyard Records UK have published an additional 24 of his worship songs on albums such as Beautiful, All From you, My Soul Yearns and now The Fire. His songs (including ‘Beautiful’, ‘Adore Him’ and ‘Lord You’re near’) have been used worldwide and inspired songwriters and worshippers throughout the world. Sam currently works as Worship Pastor for the Vineyard Church in St. Albans. and continues writing songs for the church and pushing into the presence of God.
‘The Fire’
‘The Fire’ is the first time Vineyard Records have trusted someone with a ‘solo’ album and is a product of the journey and passion of Samuel’s life. Recorded with Emmy Award winning producer Bobby Hartry (best known for his production work with Jeremy Riddle), along with some of the best musicians in LA (inc. Aaron Sterling, Jonathan Ahrens, Kristopher Pooley, and his brother in law and sister Darren and Jessie Clarke, writers of ‘I love Your presence’ and ‘Your love endures’). The Fire is a collection of songs that are full of passion, intimacy, hope and honesty… all found in the beautiful presence of God.
‘The Fire’ is the product of years of hard work from songwriter / worship leader Samuel Lane. Coming from years of experience in the Vineyard Church. His songs are full of passion, intimacy and honesty. The album communicates a real heartfelt journey of faith in the presence of God. And not only does it bring new songs to the church, but it calls out to the listener to engage with God; to ‘meet their maker’. There is nothing more amazing, more life changing than being drawn into the presence of God. ‘The Fire’ will do just this.
Take Me With You
Samuel Lane Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Where You lead I′ll be there by Your side
Take me with You
In my fear, I will trust You
In my doubt, I will look for You to guide
Take me with You
Your will be done, be done in my life
To live is Christ, to die is gain
To know the Father, to see His face
But I will follow, I will remain
There's strength in Jesus, there′s joy in faith
Joy in faith, joy in faith
The lyrics of "Take Me With You" by Samuel Lane are centered around the theme of faith and following God's will. The singer is expressing his willingness to follow God wherever He might lead him, even in times of fear and doubt. He asks God to take him with Him and he puts his trust in God to guide him through life. Central to the lyrics is the idea of surrendering oneself to God's will and finding joy and strength through faith.
The lyrics also touch upon the Christian belief in the afterlife. The singer acknowledges that while living for Christ might bring challenges and suffering during life, ultimately, dying is a gain for believers because they will be united with God in heaven. The song emphasizes the importance of knowing God and seeing His face, but it also encourages believers to persevere in following Jesus during their lifetime.
Overall, the lyrics are a prayerful expression of faith that resonates with many believers who seek to deepen their relationship with God and to follow His will.
