Thoughts
Santana Brothers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You know it isn't easy
For these thoughts here to leave me
There are no words to describe it
In french or english
Cause diamonds they fade
And flowers they bloom
And I'm telling you
That these feelings won't go away
They've been knockin me sideways
They've been knockin me out litely
Whenever you come around me
These feelings won't go away
They've been knockin me sideways
I keep thinking in a moment that

Time will take them away
But these feelings won't go away

Overall Meaning

The above lyrics are from the song "Thoughts" by Santana Brothers. The opening lines convey the difficulty faced when trying to escape from a particular thought. The songwriter explains how the thoughts are so deeply ingrained that it is almost impossible to express or verbalize them in any language, be it French or English or any other language.

The songwriter then goes on to use metaphors to describe the intensity of these thoughts. "Diamonds they fade and flowers they bloom" suggests how even the precious things in life may eventually lose their shine, but these feelings that the songwriter is feeling won't fade away anytime soon. The lyrics also contain repetition, singing "these feelings won't go away" to emphasize the idea of inescapability.

The singer also talks about how someone's presence can trigger these emotions, even after trying to ignore them. He sings, "Whenever you come around me," which makes it clear that these thoughts are connected to someone special in the singer's life. The song shows how difficult it can be to move past a particular thought or feeling, even when you want to. It carries an emotional depth that many listeners connect with on a personal level.
