All Right Here
Sara Groves Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's every loss and every love
It's every blessing from above
Here I am, all added up
Oh, it's all right here
It's what I know, and what I'm guessing
Half truths, and full confessions
It's why I choose to learn my lessons
Oh, it's all right here
(Chorus)
And I'm not God, I'm a girl - I confess
That I don't have a sea of forgetfulness
No, it's all right here
It makes me stronger, it makes me wince
Makes me think twice when I pick my friends
Oh, it's all right here
It's all right here
It's caution and curiousity
And tt's all the things I never see
Welling up inside of me
Oh, it's all right here
It's what is best, and what is worse
It's how I see the universe
It's in every line and every verse
Oh, it's all right here
(Chorus)
Every heart has so much history
It's my favorite place to start
Sit down a while and share your narative with me
I'm not afraid of who you are
I'm all here, and you're all there
Some of this is unique, and some of it we share
Add it up and start from there
Well, it's all right here
(Chorus)
It's caution and curiousity
It's all the things I never see
Oh it's all right
It's what is best, and what is worse
It's how I see the universe

Oh it's all right, it's all right here
I'm all right here

Overall Meaning

In Sara Groves's song "All Right Here," she reflects on her life experiences and the emotions and lessons that she has accumulated. She acknowledges that it is a mixture of love and loss, blessings and half-truths, caution and curiosity. Sara emphasizes that all of her past experiences, whether good or bad, have made her who she is today, and she is content with that. Sara expresses her vulnerability by admitting that she is not perfect, and that her past has shaped her.

In the chorus, Sara reveals that she does not forget the good and bad experiences she has faced, unlike God who is capable of forgetting. This memory reinforces her growth and teaches her lessons. She finds that all of her experiences brought her strength and the ability to discern whom to allow into her life. Sara encourages those around her to share their stories and their hearts. As she says, "Every heart has so much history, it's my favorite place to start. Sit down a while and share your narrative with me. I'm not afraid of who you are."

Overall, the song emphasizes self-reflection and reminding oneself how past experiences can make an impact on the person to become what they are now.

Sara, I've been a musician for 40+ years- even seen you tour with Behold the Lamb. How your spirit never tires from from revealing the truth; often painful truth...disclosure is exhausting and still you "preach" what must be presented in verse and melody. I find myself in need of your words. Thank you for your vessel work Child of God.

I listened to Sara for years back in 2001-2005! Her honesty about faith, life and how they intertwine really spoke to me. I am no longer a Christian, but her music is still able to speak to me and challenge me. Thank you for everything you do Sara! Much love!

Sir Dan, Jesus said " you must be born again "....so I have a question for you, please....since you say you are no longer a Christian....does that me you have now been UN-born?.....or could it mean you were never born again?....Jesus said unless you repent you will perish....think twice...hell is forever.
