Sara received her Bachelor of Science degree in History and English in 1994 from Evangel University, a private Christian university in Springfield, Missouri. Sara spent four years teaching high school in Rosemount, Minnesota before recording her first album, Past the Wishing, in 1998. Since then, she has released five more albums and appeared on several others (see below). Sara has been nominated for 3 Dove Awards including "New Artist of the Year" in 2002 and "Special Event Album of the Year 2003" by the Gospel Music Association. She was named one of the best Christian music artists of 2005 and the album, Add to the Beauty, was named "Album of the Year" for 2005 by CCM Magazine. In 2009 Fireflies & Songs earned enough votes from a panel of ten music critics to be named Christianity Today's Album of the Year. The magazine explained their choice: "Already known for her transparent songwriting, Sara Groves gets even more piercingly honest on this, her ninth album. Whether her relationship with God, marital tension, or a private battle with anxiety, it's poetically spilled forth in Groves' call for the church to 'live confessionally.' And paired with less poppy, stripped-down arrangements, her achingly clear vocal remains front and center. This is vintage Groves—yet more herself than ever."
Remember Surrender

Remember the rest
Remember that weight
Lifting off of your chest
And realizing that it's not
Up to you and it never was
Remember surrender
Remember how tears rolled down
Both of your cheeks
As the warmth of a heavenly father
Came closing in
I want to do that again
Why can't I live there
And make my home
In sweet surrender
I want to do so much more than remember
Remember surrender
Remember peace
Remember how soundly you fell fast asleep
In the face of your troubles
Your future still shone
Like the morning sun
Remember surrender
Remember that sound
Of all of those voices dying down
But one who speaks clearly
Of helping and healing you deep within
I want to do that again
Why can't I live there
And make my home
In sweet surrender
I want to do so much more than remember
Remember
Oh surrender
In Sara Groves's song "Remember Surrender," the lyrics encourage the listener to recall the feeling of surrendering their burdens to God and giving up the control that they may have thought they had over their lives. The song starts off with reflecting on the weight that was being carried and the relief that came when acknowledging that it's not up to the individual to carry this weight alone. The lyrics then touch on how tears may have rolled down one's cheeks as the listener felt the warmth of a heavenly father, and how they want to experience that feeling again. The song also points out that the desire to surrender may be a continuous struggle, but it's worthwhile to remember the peace and rest that can come with it. The lyrics beautifully paint the picture of a longing for a deeper connection with God and the trust that comes with surrendering to His will.

I came across Sara Groves while my Pandora was streaming some songs. I called my daughter's attention and she said, yes, she is good. I wish that Sara will know that her songs have ministered to so many. It's my prayer for her to keep singing, drawing closer and closer to the Lord, so the impact will be deeply spiritual. I also pray tonight for all who are hurting that they find comfort in the words of the Lord in Matt.11:28

this song helped me get through one of the toughest times of my life, because I realized (later) that it truly wasn't up to me.

Yeah, me too! I get all choked up when I hear this song, also, Psalm 139 is my favorite and reminds me how precious we are to Him who gave us life. We need not worry about the small stuff, God is in control no matter what we are going through.

Wow, amazing how time flies by with business and life's speed bumps along the way. I have not read all these comments until today. God has been there by my side even when I do not feel or question his Presence. He was there for me when my brother died by suicide in July of 2012 and though life has been up and down, God has never left my side. This song, is my "God Song" it takes me to a place I never question, in my back yard, when I first felt his LOVE. I want to thank all of you for your kind words and wish you all feel the peace that passes all understanding, and ask you would pass along that peace in a world which truly needs it. I also wish you would help pass along a book of poems God inspired me to write years ago. I recently ordered a few copies and asked God last night, how do I pass this along? And I was reminded of the few videos He inspired me to make years ago and the people who's lives it touched, people I've never met, miles away, but not in God's eyes, we are all His children! Thank you LORD for giving us your LOVE & PEACE and NEVER LEAVING OUR SIDE!!! http://www.amazon.com/On-Far-Side-Sea-Psalm/dp/1490927921
