SARAH BLACKWOOD grew up listening to her father’s rock and roll record collection. When she was twelve years old, her father handed her an acoustic guitar, taught her the basics and the rest, as they say, is history. Her style is influenced by old country and rock music. She’s a sweetheart with an acoustic guitar singing about love, demons she has faced, and different times in her life that have brought her down. These moments faced picked her up and made her create the songs what they are today. Also known as the front-woman for The Creepshow, Sarah has toured all across the world and has honed her live show to an exact and heartwarming science.
Picking up where “Way Back Home” left off, Sarah Blackwood’s sophomore solo album “Wasting Time” is an intensely personal collection of beautifully-crafted, roots country songs that also touches on elements of gospel, pop and soul. Where her debut was a stripped down, raw acoustic album, “Wasting Time” raises the bar by adding an incredibly talented roster of players, friends and family. Sarah’s one-man band Daniel Flamm (Heartbreak Engines, Sewer Rats) came in from Germany to add vocals, lead guitar, banjo and piano. Producer Gianni Luminati lends a hand with percussion, ukulele, mandolin and bass. Other guest musicians include brother Ian Blackwood, father Mike Blackwood, bandmate Sean “Sickboy” McNab and Lee Williamson on lapsteel.
“Wasting Time” showcases Sarah Blackwood’s undeniably passionate and sincerely honest songwriting style that is as touching as it is inspiring.
What the press is saying:
“This is a solid record, one of stark, solitary power. Blackwood excels at writing songs that while infused with pathos, aren't downers, and those that speak to universal experiences without seeming trite.” – The Hour
“…all great tracks on an album of acoustic gems.” Toronto Music Scene
“There’s an untouched feeling to Way Back Home in that it sounds at time like a collection of homemade demos, but really its more like an old, faded photograph capturing Blackwood and her emotions in the rawest form.” – Vue Weekly
These Are The Days

no I can't help you now
but I want you to be happy
and feel at home again
when your words ain't so strong
and I feel love is gone
there's a million singin' angels
telling me I'm wrong
then I turn and see you there
and your eyes they speak so clear
I'll just remember that time holds me up
when I'm falling, falling
you pinch me and tell me
I'm just dreamin' again
I was falling, but just for today
cause these are the days
that go by anyway
yes, these are the days
that go by anyway
well I can't help you now
no I can't help you now
but I want you to be smiling
cause you're home again
when my words ain't so strong
and you feel love is gone
there's a million singin' angels
telling you you're wrong
then I turn and see you there
and your eyes they speak no fear
if I remember that time holds me up
when I'm falling, falling
you pinch me and tell me
I'm just dreamin' again
I was falling, but just for today
cause these are the days
that go by anyway
yes, these are the days
that go by anyway
on our way there will always be rocks
coming up to us as if they are mountains
but whem I'm close to the edge
and there's no hold to catch
I trust in you as my strong embrace
and I was falling, falling
you pinch me to tell me
I'm just dreamin' again
I was falling but just for today
cause these are the days
that go by anyway
yes these are the days
that go by anyway
The lyrics to Sarah Blackwood's song "These Are The Days" speak of a deep friendship or relationship that is supportive and loving. The singer acknowledges that she cannot fix everything for her friend or lover. However, she wishes happiness and comfort for the other person. When the singer's words and emotions falter, she sees her friend, who gives her hope and strength to keep going. The idea of time "holding me up when I'm falling" suggests that even when things seem overwhelming, the passage of time can bring clarity and healing. The chorus repeats the sentiment that these days will pass by no matter what, so it's better to appreciate the present moment and find joy in it.
The second verse echoes the same sentiment as the first verse but with the roles reversed. The singer wants her friend or lover to feel happy and at home. She also acknowledges that there are times when she feels weak and the other person steps in to offer support and encouragement. The line "if I remember that time holds me up when I'm falling" emphasizes how crucial it is to have a support system that reminds us of our own resilience.
Overall, the song speaks of the beauty of human connection and how we hold each other up during difficult times. It also reminds us to appreciate the present, even when things are tough because ultimately, "these are the days that go by anyway".
