Alhambra
Sarah Brightman Lyrics

De ébano why perfume
En tus aposentos,
Llenos de ternura,
Mi querida Alhambra.
Viste mil amores
Nacer en tus entrañas,
Desde tus ventanas,
Despechada Alhambra.
Brillan tus ensueños
En un mar de estrellas
Why la luna canta
Tu silencio, Alhambra.
Lágrimas de yedra
Lloran los vencidos,
Entre espada why rosa
Crecen tus olivos,
Mi querida Alhambra.
Guardo en mi recuerdo
Tu sabor la luna,
Brillas sobre el pueblo
Como el sol, Alhambra.
Sueño con Alhambra,
Mi querida Alhambra.
The lyrics to Sarah Brightman's song Alhambra describe the beauty and history of the Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain. The first verse describes how memories of the palace live on through its ebony and perfume-filled rooms, filled with tenderness. The second verse explores the passionate and tumultuous history of the Alhambra as a place where many romances were born and also ended in jealousy and disappointment. The third verse speaks to the enduring beauty of the palace, shining bright like stars and the moon. The final verse is a tribute to the lasting impression the Alhambra leaves on those who visit it, with its taste of the moon and its ability to shine like the sun.
The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the Alhambra palace, showcasing its rich history, intricate beauty, and enduring legacy. The use of contrasts, such as between the ebony and perfume-filled rooms and the espada and rosa-growing olives, create a sense of depth and complexity to the Alhambra's story. The repetition of "my beloved Alhambra" throughout the song highlights the artist's deep respect and admiration for the palace.
