By the mid 1990's Thomas had become a fixture on the LA club circuit taking up residency on Tuesday nights at Club Largo in the Fairfax district, where he, along with Jon Brion, Aimee Mann, Rufus Wainwright and Grant Lee Phillips, would help establish Largo as a weekly 'scene.' His 1998 Elektra release as described by BAM magazine - "One listen to California, the Scott Thomas Band's debut album, and you'll know this is the real thing. His voice equal parts Jeff Tweedy and Jackson Browne...Thomas and band emerged from the forest with the finest slice of SoCal since Gram Parsons untimely death two and a half decades ago." Over the past five years, Scott has been writing and recording song after amazing song. Stories from a wanderer, a dreamer, a believer-laid to the perfect score for fin de sicle California.
Lights Go Out
Scott Thomas Lyrics
Awake, oh my soul's awake
Living for today, I swear your love lights my way
It's time, oh my lord it's time
No one here but you and I
Baby's in my arms, there's no more running
Slow down, I think it's gonna rain tonight
Heaven is a bed inside, and I'm not sleeping
It's a showdown, they're fighting in the streets tonight
We're hiding 'neath the sheets, all right
Till the lights, they go out
Straight up, your pretty little face no makeup
Any way you come, is a trade-up
Lay lady lay, let's lay down together
My girl, I don't know what they're thinking
The whole world, they're wasting time ticking
I don't care, well if the ship is sinking
I'm going down with you, babe
Slow down, I think it's gonna rain tonight
Heaven is a bed inside, and I'm not sleeping
It's a showdown, they're fighting in the streets tonight
We're hiding 'neath the sheets, all right
Till the lights, they go out
New Years, twenty-thirteen
Babe, it's just you and me
Starting all over
Whatever happened to Adam and Eve
It ain't gonna come in between us
In our shining hour
Slow down, I think it's gonna rain tonight
Heaven is a bed inside, and I'm not sleeping
It's a showdown, they're fighting in the streets tonight
We're hiding 'neath the sheets, all right
Till the lights, they go out
Living for today, I swear your love lights my way
It's time, oh my lord it's time
No one here but you and I
Baby's in my arms, there's no more running
