On September 22, 2009, Sea Wolf's sophomore album, White Water, White Bloom was released by Dangerbird Records. The album was produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk, M. Ward) at his studio in Omaha.
Sea Wolf contributed a song entitled “Song of the Magpie” to the audio book for Augusten Burroughs’ book “A Wolf at the Table.” Burroughs asked Sea Wolf’s Alex Brown Church to read the book and respond with an original song.
In addition to Alex Brown Church, the other members of Sea Wolf are currently Lisa Fendelander (keyboards), Theodore Liscinski (bass), Joey Ficken (drums), Nathan Anderson (guitar), and Joyce Lee (cello).
The band's third album, Old World Romance, was released in 2012.
After fulfilling Sea Wolf's contract with the label, the band took to Kickstarter in 2013 to fund a striped-down album with simliar tones to the early days of Sea Wolf. The project was fully-funded and released to backers in May 2014. The album, Song Spells, No. 1: Cedarsmoke was released on Spotify and on seawolfmusic.com as a free-or-pay-what-you-want in July 2014. Alex Brown Church stated that there are plans for additional "Song Spells" albums.
Black Dirt
Sea Wolf Lyrics

I cannot hear a sound
Just a strong and steady rain
Getting louder as you sing
It may be true that I lied
I broke a promise that I tried
But my heart no longer beats
Black dirt under your feet
Black dirt
Will stain your feet
And when you walk
You'll leave
Black dirt in the street
I could feel my face grow pale
Sick with fear my senses fail
And as the light fades from my eyes
I smile but don't know why
Legs are growing
To the heat of the sun
And my heart no longer beats
Black dirt will stain your feet
And when you walk you'll leave
Black dirt in the street
Black dirt will stain your feet
And when you walk you'll leave
Black dirt in the street
Here on the ground I lie
I cannot hear a sound as I die
It may be true that I lied
Broke a promise that I tried
But my heart no longer beats
And when you kill you'll only leave
Black dirt under your feet
Black dirt will stain your feet
And when you walk you'll leave
Black dirt in the street
Black dirt will stain your feet
And when you walk you'll leave
Black dirt in the street
Black dirt will stain your feet
And when you walk you'll leave
Black dirt in the street
Black dirt will stain your feet
And when you walk you'll leave
Black dirt in the street
The song "Black Dirt" by Sea Wolf explores themes of regret, guilt, and mortality. The lyrics paint a picture of a person lying on the ground, listening to the sound of rain growing louder as they sing. The singer reflects on a broken promise, possibly involving a lie, and accepts the consequences of their actions. They acknowledge that their heart no longer beats, underscoring a sense of finality and acceptance of their fate. The repeated imagery of "black dirt" serves as a metaphor for the stains left by someone's actions, whether it be lies or killing, and serves as a reminder that one's actions have consequences.
