Angelica
Seay Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Angelica (angelica)
At face value, Seay's "Angelica" is an ethereal and soothing track with a simple repeated chorus of "Angelica, Angelica." However, when delving deeper into the song's lyrics and meaning, it becomes a haunting and melancholic exploration of lost love and the struggle to move on.
The use of the name "Angelica" has symbolic weight, as it is derived from the Greek word for "messenger" or "angel," suggesting the presence of divine intervention or guidance. The lyrics describe a past love that the singer is unable to forget, haunting her even in her dreams. The repetition of "Angelica" creates a sense of desperation and longing, as if the singer is reaching out to this lost love through some spiritual means.
The lines "I try to conquer what can't be undone" and "I wonder if we'll meet again" convey the struggle of trying to move on from a relationship that has already ended, but still holding onto the hope of a reunion. The instrumental sections in the song are dreamlike and atmospheric, creating a sense of the ethereal and otherworldly. However, the lyrics themselves are grounded in the reality of unrequited love and the pain it can bring.
Overall, "Angelica" is a beautifully haunting track that speaks to the universal experiences of love and loss. Its simplicity and repetition create a hypnotic effect that draws the listener in, while its emotional weight and depth offer a powerful catharsis.

Seay is a great singer and artist, but I still believe that Enya is one of the greatest singers of our time. Their styles are totally different, but each wonderful in their own right.
