Sin hvile n
Og natten vil vke for den
Nocturne
Selv mrket m
En gang forg
S natten kan fde en dag
The lyrics to Secret Garden's song Nocturne are in Norwegian, which when translated to English means:
Let the day
rest in peace
and let the night awaken for it
Nocturne
Even darkness must
once give way
so the night can give birth to a day.
The lyrics essentially speak to the idea of the cyclical nature of life, where day gives way to night, and darkness turns to light. The choice to use Norwegian adds to the mystery and allure of the song, giving it a certain otherworldly quality.
Overall, the lyrics of Nocturne are simple yet rich in meaning, with a message that speaks to the beauty and inevitability of change.

It's not a song, it's a divine thing. I've been listening to this song for years and I've never been bored.

This is by far the best eurovision song ever. And I'm not saying this because I am a norwegian. But this is just so...magical. Just as a song alone, but also the fact that it is from a time where the songs were supposed to portray the country it represented somehow too. Which they have in both the style of song (Norway being a country of mysteries and fairytales and deep forests) but also the choice of instruments. Still gives me goose bumps after all these years. And it still moves me. A masterpiece indeed. ♡

Personally, I try to disassociate this sublime work of brilliance with the political debacle that hides behind the guise of Eurovision... But glad it was able to expose this amazing duo to the rest of Europe. Marvellous Music, Wonderful Words, Superbly sung 👍👍👍

It's owing more to the Gaelic culture of lone violinist Fionnuala Sherry than to Nordic music.
