The silence seems so absurd
Dripping words from my mouth
It never feels like I've heard
And I feel like I'm done
I'm tired is all I can say
When it wears down my health
It's time to take this away
'Cause when it breaks down
It's like it's written in stone
And when it fades out
I feel the pain in my bones
It's like its written in stone
When the sun's heading south
And all the cows come to herd
When the flames get snuffed out
By the screams of the birds
And I feel like I tried
To quiet all my dismay
But it tore me apart
The violence out on display
'Cause when it breaks down
It's like it's written in stone
And when it fades out
I feel the pain in my bones
'Cause when it breaks down
It's like it's written in stone
And when it fades out
I feel the pain in my bones
It's like it's written in stone
Like it's written in stone
Like it's written in stone
Like it's written in stone
The lyrics of "Written In Stone" by Seether touch upon feelings of isolation, frustration, and a sense of being trapped in a situation that seems unchangeable. The singer describes being alone and feeling like the silence is overwhelming, as if their thoughts and words are just empty echoes. They express a weariness and a longing for relief from the emotional burden they carry. The phrase "it's like it's written in stone" suggests that these struggles and pains are deeply ingrained and unalterable.
The song also alludes to a moment of realization, where the singer recognizes that their efforts to suppress their distress only resulted in further pain. They mention the sun setting, the herding of cows, and the extinguishing of flames, perhaps symbolizing the passage of time and the end of a cycle. The screams of the birds and the violence on display reflect the turmoil and chaos that the singer has been trying to contain. Ultimately, they acknowledge that the pain they feel is inescapable and deeply entrenched in their being.
Overall, "Written In Stone" portrays a sense of resignation and acceptance of the unchangeable nature of certain struggles and emotions. The lyrics convey a feeling of being trapped and a deep longing for release from the weight that burdens them.

Remember that Shaun produced this entire album (and the last one) entirely himself. As an amateur producer myself, knowing this has increased the high level of respect I already have for Shawn. The man, unlike many so-called โmusiciansโ/โartistsโ today, actually is one, at a soul level. Brilliant song by the way. Take care everyone.
