After their appearance in diverse compilations published in the North American market and the auto-edition of "Pride", E.P. of 1998, Self-Delusion has been taken in hand by the producer Frans Beltran (aka-Iberian Spleen and involved also in the production of Spanish bands as diverse as Magnatiz, Freak XXI, Klockwork or Shuga Whuga) to give form to their first album ("Happiness hurts me").
This recording shows the eclecticism of Self-Delusion creating songs on varied electronic structures, which take them from the classic tecnopop to trip-hop, techno-rock or electro. Their sound betrays them as big followers of the music of 80s; their members are indeed fans of very varied bands that go from Depeche Mode to The Smiths, from The Cure to Portishead, from Aviador Dro to Lamb or from Fangoria to Covenant.
Self-Delusion has been a supporting act for bands such as Wolfsheim and De/Vision, VNV Nation and Apoptygma Berzerk.
With "Happiness hurts", Self-Delusion makes a move to find a place in the electronic national scene as they have obtained it, occasionally, in the international one, where they have managed to edit and to receive prizes as the fourth position in the Clavia MP3 Competition (contest organized by the well known synths manufacturer Clavia -nordlead-) thanks their song "Christine", included in "Happiness hurts me".
Nowadays they're working in their second album, called "Not for Resale" (produced by Self-Delusion with the collaboration of Pina -from Fire).
Too Late
Self Delusion Lyrics

I don't think so, my love
did we really love each other?
we only made love, that's all
today you say you want a change
I'm only taking my revenge
your request is out of place
I've found someone else to be saved
it's time to leave our past
there is so much to forget
not much right to remain
once I paid for your attention
now you pray to know my truth
your pain and tears will be the coins
which you pay the anger you moved
it's too late to see the signs
it's too late to avoid this end
you're trying to justify your facts
I'm looking for my self-esteem
it's too late to believe in love
hear the words I say
you're doing what I want
you're dying in my hell
all the words you said were sounds
that hurt me with no doubt
I had to say goodbye
you have to pay my pain
once I paid for your attention
now you pray to know my truth
your pain and tears will be the coins
which you pay the anger you moved
it's too late to see the signs
it's too late to avoid this end
you're trying to justify your facts
I'm looking for my self-esteem
The lyrics of Self Delusion's "Too Late" depict a turbulent relationship that has now reached its breaking point. The singer begins by questioning the authenticity and depth of their love, suggesting that it may have only been physical in nature. The second verse addresses the current breakdown of the relationship, with the significant other expressing a desire for change. However, the singer refuses to grant this request, instead seeking revenge for past wrongs inflicted upon them.
As the song progresses, the singer asserts their newfound independence and declares that they have moved on to find happiness with someone else. The chorus repeats the idea that it is now "too late" to repair the damage to the relationship and that the significant other is doomed to suffer in their own personal hell. The final verse implies that the significant other may have been knowingly or unknowingly manipulative or hurtful, prompting the singer to seek out their own self-esteem and move forward with their life.
Overall, the lyrics of "Too Late" present a raw and emotionally charged portrayal of a relationship gone sour, with both parties struggling to come to terms with the end of their connection. It captures the complex mix of emotions that can arise when a once-loving relationship devolves into bitterness and resentment.
