His recent CDs are Friends and Live in Caesaria, on which he sings with other Israeli artists, including his sister Lea Shabat, Shiri Maimon, and Lior Narkis.
In 2002 he was nominated for the Tamuz Award of Israel's Best Male Artist, along with David D'Or, Arkadi Duchin, Yuval Gabay, and Yehuda Poliker,[2] but lost out to D'Or.
In 2006 Shabat released a CD which contains duets and is named Friends 2. It was his 9th solo album, and was made in the same style as the first Friends duets album from 2001.[1]
Shabat sang a duet with David D'Or on D'Or's CD, Kmo HaRuach ("Like the Wind"), which was released on March 27, 2006.[2][3]
Kmo Balada
Shlomi Shabat Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In this verse from Shlomi Shabat's song "Kmo Balada," the singer describes their love for an elusive and perhaps difficult partner. They begin by saying that if their beloved is a foreigner who causes pain like thorns, that is exactly what they love about them. The singer then suggests that they will go out into the desert and learn how to endure pain, indicating that they are willing to go to great lengths to stay with their love.
The next part of the verse touches on the idea of love letters. The singer says that they only love songs that are written in stone, suggesting that they want something permanent and enduring from their partner. They say they will gather these songs among the rocks and mountains. The verse ends with a wistful tone as the singer imagines being covered with sand in the darkness, but still wanting their partner to tell them beautiful words of both joy and sadness. They suggest that this man they love may have also loved them back.
Overall, the verse conveys a sense of intense and unrequited love, as well as a willingness to endure pain and hardship to be with their beloved.
