She Knows
Simple Minds Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
First comes the rush then comes the fall.
I wonder why it's a torturous thing.
Tearing me up on the count of three.
She knows, she knows.
She's waiting there for me.
She knows and she knows.
How I feel I try to explore,
Hidden inside and tangled to more.
Not troubled by the rush that it brings,
I know what it's like but I can't do a thing.
She knows, she knows.
She's waiting there for me.
And she knows, she knows.
She's waiting there for me.
I want to know what star you are.
Why you're so good to me.
Why you're so good to me.
Morning comes and I unlock the door,
I tumble outside I've been here before.
Never so sweet as after the sting,
Tired life free still circling.
She knows, she knows.
She's waiting there for me.
And she knows, she knows.
She's waiting there for me.
And she knows, she knows.
She's waiting there for me.
And she knows, she knows.
She's waiting there for me.
The lyrics of Simple Minds' song She Knows are filled with emotional depth and introspection. The first stanza sets the tone for the song, with the singer admitting that he cannot lie and that he needs to experience the highs and lows of life to feel alive. He wonders at the pain and turmoil that seem to come with every moment of joy. The chorus, "She knows, she knows, she's waiting there for me" suggests that there is someone who understands him and is always there for him, despite his struggles.
In the second stanza, the singer delves deeper into his emotions, exploring the hidden parts of himself that are tangled and complex. He admits that he is not afraid of the adrenaline rush that life brings, but he cannot seem to control or change anything. Again, he returns to the chorus, where the repetition of "she knows" emphasizes the importance of this understanding person in his life.
The final stanza brings a sense of closure to the song. The singer wakes up to a new day, still feeling the effects of his struggles, but knowing that there is a sweetness to life that comes after the pain. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, suggesting that the comforting presence of this understanding person will always be there for him.
Overall, She Knows is a song about the struggles of life, the need for human connection, and the complexity of emotions. The singer's introspection and vulnerability make the lyrics relatable and easy to connect with.
