Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sizzla's "I" express a strong message about the world and society's current state. The song speaks to the people of the world and their struggles to remember their past and avoid being lost. Sizzla urges listeners to be positive and not forget where they come from. He believes that many have gone astray, and he burns them every day for not loving. Sizzla also believes that people are too focused on class and crave to be at the top without remembering their roots. He emphasizes that people need to take a step back and cleanse their ways.

In the second verse, Sizzla speaks specifically to the people in the West who have gone crazy and love to boast about their achievements while they are enslaved. He urges the youth not to gaze upon the ghetto and to take necessary steps for black redemption. Sizzla calls out the Prime Minister for selling out the youth to the Queen of England and emphasizes that those in power bow to his turban. He believes in Melchisedek's order and what it stands for, and he urges the youth to rise and take a stand for repartriation.

The chorus emphasizes the importance of walking the trodden path of King Selassie and Melchesedek. Sizzla and the youth follow their ways and reject the pagan ways of others. The song ends with a message of growth and hope. Sizzla expresses his desire for every youth to grow and live up to their potential. He wants them to flow and develop without being held back by the corners and crevices of society.

Me and the youths are walking down a path of righteousness, using the teachings of Melchesedek. If you see us walking through the earth, we are following the path of King Selassie. We need to eliminate the influence of those who follow their own pagan ways.

Well you see The people inna di west Di whole a dem gone crazy Love fi big up dem chest yet dem dey inna slavery Dem caan nyam nuh food without nuh money So foolish is the man Eat food in fruitful Zion yet him hungry A tell yuh fi Cleanse yuh ways, clean up yuh path Ghetto yutes nuh badda gaze Mi say unno fus fi staat Babylon a seek soul an heart Dem dun get dem piece and want our half Dats why
People in the western world are crazy and love to show off, even though they are still in a type of slavery. They can't even eat without money, which is foolish. They should clean up their act and get back on a righteous path. Babylon is trying to corrupt them and take what is ours, which is why I am against them.

The Prime Minister only cares about staying in power and has sold out the youth to the queen of England. Everyone bows to me when they see my turban because of the respect I have earned as a follower of Melchisedek. I speak out against power and stand for black redemption. Be careful of the words you speak and the food you eat. It is important to raise the youth properly. The people of Bobo Hill should work on organizing themselves. Emperor Selassie is from Ethiopia, and he reigns over the flesh and the heart of Mount Zion. I am here for every Israelite out of Babylon, but we should seek reparations peacefully. Don't harm anyone, and be careful where you walk. Don't let your heart be confused. Those who cause trouble will be punished by the Lord.

Haffi trod one away...
We need to continue walking down the righteous path.

Di whole a dem only secretive But fi wha mi nuh know Bun dem corner an dem crevices Wha dat, it is the show I need to see every yutes grow Living up, come mek wi cristen and flow Caan plant corn an a peas yuh waan fi grow
People are too secretive, and I don't know what they're hiding. They're like snakes hiding in the corners, and I need them to be more open as they grow. It's important to live a holy life and work towards a righteous future.
