Sizzla, along with reggae recording artists such as Capleton, Buju Banton, and Anthony B, are credited with leading a movement toward a re-embracement of Rastafarian values in contemporary reggae music by recording material which is concerned primarily with spirituality, social consciousness, explores common themes, such as Babylon's corrupting influence, the disenfranchisement of ghetto youth, oppression of the black nation and Sizzla's abiding faith in Jah and resistance against perceived agents of oppression. Sizzla has over 40 full completed albums sold in record stores to date, the most popular which have been "Black Woman & Child" and "Da Real Thing" on the Digital B label, "Praise Ye Jah" on Xterminator, and "Rise to the Occasion" on Greensleeves.
Recently, however, he has come under fire for the homophobic content of many of his lyrics, and the advocacy of violence against gays.

Yeah mon music is a natural ting, fo di king of kings
Original ting, a di rastaman a sing, oh oh oh!
Why should I want to hurt my brother just for vanity
Why should I want to hurt my sister for the least of things
When I know I an I lives and reigns and rules over everything
Nothing and no one gonna stop up us now from doing the right thing
The people all became a victim whoa
Because the system had made it so
Don't take no from no politics no
Scrubs and farasees I sink them below
One blood know it's that I come show
Just listen to this musical vibes that flow
From the seed what you sow and bear the fruits for today and tomorrow
Why should I want to hurt my brother just for vanity
Why should I want to hurt my sister for the least of things
When I know rastafari lives and reigns and rules over everything
Nothing and no one gonna stop up us now from doing the right thing
I was born to protect black people pickney dem

Equal rights and justice they shall receive
And, Mother Earth gonna need you
So never let the pagan deceive you
Speak the truth for the children to believe you, oh oh

Sizzlaβs song βWhy Should Iβ is an uplifting reggae track that encourages listeners to do what is right, to love one another and work towards the common goal of equality and justice. The song begins by acknowledging the power of music and its ability to bring people together. It then poses a rhetorical question about why anyone would want to hurt their brother or sister, emphasizing the importance of unity and compassion. Sizzla refers to himself as a protector of black children, denouncing conflict and promoting righteousness. He advocates for equality, reminding listeners that no one should be harmed or discriminated against for superficial or trivial reasons. The song concludes with a call to action to hold the faith, speak the truth, and work towards a better tomorrow.
