Slipknot is well known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows. The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. The 2001 follow-up album, Iowa, although darker in tone, made the band more popular. After a brief hiatus, Slipknot returned in 2004 with Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, before going on another hiatus and returning in 2008 with its fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. After another long hiatus, Slipknot released its fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, in 2014. Their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released on August 9, 2019. Their seventh studio album, The End, So Far, was released on September 30, 2022. The band has released two live albums titled 9.0: Live and Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico, a compilation album titled Antennas to Hell, and five live DVDs. The band has sold 30 million records worldwide.

Isn't this what you came here for?
Isn't this what you came here for?
Isn't this what you came here for?
Blah, blah, blah I don't wanna hear shit
Medicals and miracles and all the obits
We stay all day and leave all night
Paid off, catch a tiger by- the total price of all the penalties
Let's go, don't you wanna see another model just like you?
Too smart but you can't imagine (too much time in the old abandoned)
My advice (now don't think twice)
You always buy brand new
Too smart but you can't imagine (too much time in the old abandoned)
My advice (now don't think twice)
You always buy brand new
Gangs start shooting and the parents aren't gonna be the answer
To the overwhelming ordinary
Pick a vision and just follow the clues
We don't need the conversation we just confuse the
Breakdown, don't adjust your set, now careful
There's no feedback guarantees
Why now? It always seems to be another job you can't get through
Too smart but you can't imagine (too much time in the old abandoned)
My advice (now don't think twice)
You always buy brand new
Too smart but you can't imagine (too much time in the old abandoned)
My advice (now don't think twice)
You always buy brand new
Your warranty is not a guarantee to me
Your innocence is just a pittance and naive
Contrive the controversy, sinister and plain
Upgrade the system 'til the virus can be sane
Got it all back but I blew it on the trade-in
Isn't this what you came here for?
Got it all back but I blew it on the trade-in
Isn't this what you came here for?
Got it all back but I blew it on the trade-in

The lyrics to Slipknot's song "Warranty" seem to convey a sense of disillusionment and frustration with societal norms and expectations. The repetition of the question "Isn't this what you came here for?" serves as a rhetorical question, suggesting that the listener may have had certain expectations or desires that have not been fulfilled.
The opening lines, "Blah, blah, blah I don't wanna hear shit, Medicals and miracles and all the obits," express a discontent with the superficiality and empty promises of the world. This can be seen in the reference to medicals and miracles, which may imply a sense of skepticism towards false solutions and a recognition of the unavoidable reality of death.
The following lines highlight the inherent flaws and corruption within society. The mention of being paid off and catching a tiger by its total price of penalties suggests a broken system governed by greed and manipulation. The reference to wanting to see another model just like you could be interpreted as a critique on the pressures to conform and fit into societal molds.
The second verse delves into themes of violence, parenting, and mediocrity. The lyrics imply that gangs and parents are not the solution to the ordinary and overwhelming problems faced in society. Instead, the song suggests picking a vision and following clues, hinting at the need for individuality and critical thinking rather than blindly conforming or seeking answers from external sources.
The line "Your warranty is not a guarantee to me, Your innocence is just a pittance and naive" challenges the notion of relying on warranties and innocence as an assurance of safety or protection. It reflects a cynical perspective that these motives may only serve as superficial or insufficient shields against the harsh realities of life.
The repeated mention of blowing it on a trade-in could signify a cycle of disappointment and regret, suggesting that the listener has invested their time and resources into something that ultimately did not deliver what was promised.
In the final lines, the lyrics emphasize the futility of always seeking something new and the irony of being too smart to imagine alternative solutions. This may be a commentary on the constant pursuit of material possessions or external validation, encouraging the listener to question the true meaning and value of their choices.
Overall, "Warranty" presents itself as a critique on the inherent flaws of societal expectations, the temptation to conform, and the disillusionment that can arise from relying on external systems or warranties for fulfillment or security.
