The band name is a reference to "kissing and cuddling," which, according to Thrussell, symbolizes the Marxist concept of destroying barriers between people (see the lyrics to "Light, Yet Refreshing")
Their first album, Lies Inc., was released in 1992. Pieter Bourke joined the band soon afterwards, and Dear Valued Customer, which drew heavily on techno influences, was released in 1994. That same year, two sideprojects emerged: Soma was formed by Thrussell and Pieter Bourke, and Thrussell formed solo project Black Lung.
By 1997, the band had largely become a solo project for Thrussell (with guest musicians). Buy Me... I'll Change Your Life was a departure in style, featuring country western-style guitar and a cover of Lee Hazlewood's "Let the Little Flowers Grow". 1999's Third Mall from the Sun offered a unique blend of the style of the previous two albums, along with new influences. This was followed by the remix album Relax into the Abyss.
In 2003, Beyond the Valley of the Proles was released. This album offered a more refined version of the style found on Buy Me. Its 2006 follow-up, Snog Vs. the Faecal Juggernaut of Mass Culture, saw a return to a more electronic sound.
One notable feature about the band is Thrussell's lyrics — almost all songs contain themes of anti-capitalism, anti-fascism, anti-consumerism, individuality, and anti-big-brotherism. Thrussell also often includes references to conspiracy theories in his lyrics and song titles (for example, The Report From Iron Mountain or Rex 84).
The albums Third Mall from the Sun (1999), Relax into the Abyss (2000) and Beyond the Valley of the Proles (2003) featured artwork by Canadian artist Chris Woods, whose paintings lampoon the advertising tactics of major corporations such as McDonald's, The Gap, and Nike.

Hey Christian God
Snog Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
andi beg to be free
of that crap that christmas brings
an excuse for selling things
hey christian god, get outta my face
your holy ghost is a curse on the human race
id like to string you up one more ting
what a joy to be alone
away from the buying zone
but this party'll never die
'cause christ you're such a lie
hey christian god, get outta my face
your holy ghost is a curse on the human race
id like to string you up one more ting
no stupid sacrament, no pissy wine
The lyrics of Snog's song Hey Christian God are clearly against religion, more specifically Christianity, and how it affects the commercial aspect of society. The opening lines express a feeling of rebellion towards family values and the pressure society puts on people in regards to religious holidays such as Christmas. The artist feels trapped and wants to be free from the consumerism that surrounds it. The second stanza directly addresses the Christian God, proclaiming that the holy ghost is a curse on humanity. This blunt statement suggests that religion is a negative force that holds humanity back, and again refers to the commercializing of the religion, mocking the sacrament and wine.
The chorus is a direct address to this Christian God, demanding that it (he?) get out of the artist's face. The use of "you" in this case is powerful and confrontational, and the repetition of the chorus creates a feeling of aggression. The artist has a clear disdain for religion and the influences it has on society, and it is through this song that he is expressing his feelings towards it. This song has strong anti-religious themes throughout it, but there is also a taste of rebellion and a desire to be free of commercialism, making the message multidimensional.

What album is “Stop Shouting at Me” on? I I have it on a Metropolis Records compilation I lost years ago. Much preferred to this track. Most who go out of their way to curse my Christ actually find him once they understand. “No one seeks God, not one.” It means all questions and accusations we level against him are born of his will to be United. After all, the author of the song acknowledges his existence or else his music means nothing. People hurt by people are always suspicious of love until they discover it. Once known, denial of such love is impossible.

He’s not trying to be a singer. He’s a cynical dude making observations on capitalism, society, and religion.
