Observándonos
Soda Stereo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Fuera (fuera)
fuera de mi órbita
Apaguen ese monitor
Fuera (fuera)
fuera de la atmósfera
Es donde me siento mejor
Dejenme (dejenme)
retiren el bloqueo
Dejenme, sueltenme
quiero dar un paseo

Si, a nuestro alrededor, satélites, satélites
Si, observándonos

Fotos (fotos) fotos en tu cama,
vigilan cada sensación
Las calles peligran, los bares se cierran
Cuidado con la colisión

Si, a nuestro alrededor satélites, satélites
Si, observándonos

Fuera (fuera)
fuera de mi órbita
Apaguen ese monitor
Fuera (fuera)

fuera de la atmósfera
Es donde me siento mejor

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Soda Stereo's song Observándonos seem to evoke feelings of rebellion and a desire for freedom. The first verse expresses a desire to break out of one's routine or mundane life, represented by being "out of orbit" and turning off the "monitor", or perhaps an overbearing influence in their life. The second verse seems to touch on the idea of surveillance and being constantly watched and monitored, as evidenced by the "satellites" observing and taking "photos" of our every move. The chorus repeats the desire to be free from these constraints and embark on a metaphorical journey into space, away from the restrictions of society.

It's worth noting that the lyrics were written by Gustavo Cerati, the lead singer and guitarist of Soda Stereo, who was known for his poetic and often abstract lyrics. The song was released in 1990 as part of their album "Canción Animal", which is widely regarded as one of the greatest rock albums in Latin American history. The album was produced by Gustavo Santaolalla, who would go on to win two Academy Awards for his work on film scores.

Observándonos has been covered by several artists, including Mon Laferte and Natalia Lafourcade, and is considered to be one of Soda Stereo's most iconic songs. The band broke up in 1997, but their music continues to be influential and widely listened to in Latin American countries, and has been compared to the likes of U2 and The Cure.
