Who is commentating at the end of the song? I've never heard that before. Is it on the original track? I still love this song as it reminds me of when I was a teen, fully in love with Jesus, yet unaware of what following Him would require of me. So when this album came out, the world was still a pretty good place. It was going downhill at a 15 degree angle. Then 9/11 happened and the world started going downhill at a 30 degree angle. Stephen Harper became the Prime Minister of Canada. Canada stabilized in some ways but universities started going downhill because they wanted to create safe spaces and de-platform people. Then Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister of Canada and Canada started going downhill at a 45 degree angle. The COVID19 pandemic happened. Governments started shutting down businesses and the world started going downhill at a 60 degree angle. Did too many Christians pack their bags and wait to fly away? The “Left Behind” books were popular when this album came out. If the Christians would have known that they would still be here today, would have they done more to stop the world from going downhill? I believe that there was a good chance that the world could have been saved in the 70’s. But Donald Thompson with his rapture and tribulation movies got too many people to pack their bags and wait to fly away. But 49 years later, they are still here. So you should try to preserve everything good for your children and grandchildren. If I had a time machine, I would go back to 1971 and try to convince the college kids to die, fight, and kill for the truth while they get the corrupt bankers and politicians arrested or assassinated. Then maybe, the world would still be good.

One of the most popular X-RATED songs sung by churches today. It is a disgrace. Now, have a listen again and listen closely to the words and imagine "Madonna" singing. Do they teach the BIBLE in this church of yours? Because the words of this song are taken word for word from scripture. "In the secret, in the quiet place" psalm 91:1 and psalm 27. "Pressing onward, pushing every hindrance aside, out of my way, that I might receive the price" Paul's first letter to the Corinthians chapter 9 verse 24. And again in Philippians. The chorus, which I can only assume is where your perverted mind mistook the cries for closeness and intimacy with God for something sexual, are just that: cries for closeness with ones Heavenly Father. I want to touch you! Jesus told the disciples to actually put their hands inside his wounds. I want to hear your voice! That still small voice of the Holy Spirit which leads us in all truth. I want to see your face! "They looked to His face and their faces were lightened and they were not ashamed" psalms 34:5. This is a beautiful praise song taken from Scripture. If you heard something else, stop listening to Madonna songs.

Yes, they teach the Bible - more than you know, in fact everyone brings theirs because we never place scripture on a screen or in the bulletin, we just reference the passages. That being said it must be understood that in our study of scripture or in our worship of God we should never be ashamed to say or sing "Jesus", "God", "Heavenly Father", "Savior", "The Great I Am", etc. etc. etc. Your points are obvious, really, it would seem you are akin to a recent seminary graduate who wants to show off his "passing" knowledge of scripture. Not sure how old you are so I'll not take a chance and explain a few things. In 1989 Madonna was at the top of her game, (though she's been back up a few more times since). At any rate, she sang a song called "Like A Prayer". Really good song, in fact, I have actually heard it sung in a church service - ONCE - and that was the end of that (after I showed the singer Madonna's video of it). All us christian kids were so happy she sang a song that "lent" itself to being reasonably wholesome if not - possibly - reflective of a faith in the Divine - this happiness was based on the lyrics only. THEN the video came out and Madonna removed all doubt, she's a ho and nothing - especially Christian - is sacred to her. Amy Grant "courted" the secular, which is perfectly fine - her song with Peter Cetera (Next Time I Fall) was great, he's one of my favorites (Chicago 17 is fantastic by the way) but "like a light on a hill" it is obvious that two artists are singing a love song - absolutely nothing wrong with that. HOWEVER, there is just something that just rubs me raw when a "Christian" group sings a song that NEVER REMOVES ANY DOUBT OF WHOM THEY SPEAK. So, since you wanted me to know that you know your Bible, I would like you to show me verse in the Bible where Christ tells His followers to be "vague". As a Christian - why would you want to. Now, let's take a look at the verses you quoted, they are obviously about a personal relationship of an individual and the Divine, an extremely intimate relationship - well, when it comes to intimacy it is sheer stupidity for a Christian to be vague on that subject. If Madonna sang "Amazing Grace" it would be Madonna (or Lady Ga Ga depending on how old or young you are) singing "Amazing Grace" and the words of that hymn leave no doubt that a sinner is singing about God and His love. Therefor, if the lyrics of a song cannot bear the weight, on their own and in context, that there is no doubt of whom we sing then the song is weak. The world does not need Christians being vague. John MacArthur once said that "The deeper our understanding of God should be reflected by a higher form of worship". How shallow is one's understanding of God when vagueness goes un-noticed, how close to the secular is said person.........................

Now, mr. bible scholar, there is no doubt that scripture is taken out of context and warped to fit the personal leanings of the one doing the warping. In the context of a "Sonicflood" concert or within a worship service this song is "passing". HOWEVER, if you heard this song on the radio, as I have, on a secular station then the context shifts and sadly the context of this song shifts far too easily. Madonna skirted the sacred and Christians fell for it - till the video came out. Sonicflood is no better when a non believer learns that he's been fooled. In fact, one who has been made of fool of will more than likely "shun" the one who fooled them meaning that this particular song and others like it will no doubt do more harm to the spreading of Christianity than good.

U2 does not sing sacred songs but they do not hide their faith. At the same time they never try to "fool" their fans - they respect them too much. After being at a U2 concert - believe me - that's no small order. Christians do not honor Christ when they stoop to secular practices.

You seem like a person who is out to prove how pious they are and how their church is the ONLY one "doing it right". Gross. I don't have time for that. There's nothing vague about this song, it's clearly referencing scripture, and your own abased mind made it sexual. Paul said "to the pure minded, all things are pure". Also, U2, really? Have you ever seen their album cover of two half naked men embracing? There's nothing vague about that image or the song that goes along with it. You claim secular practices have no business in the Christian faith then try to say U2 is a Christian band lol. Are you trying to be confusing or are you just confused? Either way, your indictment of this song has fallen flat.
