Psalm 30
Sons Of Korah Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I will exalt You, O Lord, my God
For You lifted me up out of the depths
And You did not let my enemies gloat
I called for help and You answered me

You brought me up from the grave
And You spared me from going
Down to the ground

Sing to the Lord, you saints of His
And praise His name, His holy name
For His anger lasts only a moment
But His favor lasts a whole lifetime
Weeping may remain for a night
But in the morning rejoicing comes
Weeping may remain for a night
But in the morning rejoicing comes

When I felt secure, I said
I will never be shaken
I will never be shaken
Lord, when You favored me
You made my mountain stand firm
You made my mountain stand firm

But when You hid Your face from me
Lord, then I was dismayed
To You, O Lord, I called
To the Lord I cried for mercy
Hear, O Lord, have mercy on me
Be my help, be my help

What gain is in my destruction
In my going to the ground?
Will the dust give praise to You Lord?
Will the dust proclaim you faithfulness?
Hear, O Lord, have mercy on me
Be my help, be my help
You turned my waiting into dancing
You took my sackcloth and You clothed me
With garments of joy
That my heart may sing to You, Lord

Sing, sing and not be silent
Thanks be to the Lord

Overall Meaning

In Psalm 30, the Sons of Korah sing praises to God for lifting them out of the depths and rescuing them from their enemies. They express gratitude for God's willingness to answer their call for help and spare their life. They declare their intent to exalt the Lord and praise His holy name along with other saints.

The Psalmist acknowledges that he had a moment of pride and self-assurance when he felt secure and said he would never be shaken, but when God hid His face, he was dismayed and turned to God for mercy. He questions the purpose of his destruction and reminds God that dust cannot praise Him or proclaim His faithfulness.

Yet, through the Psalmist's waiting, God turns his mourning into dancing and clothes him with joy. This transformation fills the Psalmist's heart with song and gratitude towards the Lord.

Overall, Psalm 30 is an expression of deep appreciation towards God for His rescuing grace and mercy, acknowledging that even in moments of pride and self-assurance, one must turn to God for help and trust in His unfailing love and faithfulness.

on It's over now

It’s Over Now

My Son
My life was all poured out
Like water, water, water on the ground
I am leaving I am going to a better place
Oooh---, Oooh---
It’s over now-

My Son
In the grace of God be strong
For you must go on like a soldier
And I am leaving I am going to a better place
Oooh - It’s all over now Oooh- and I made it through somehow
The war is over
The race is run
I’ve kept the faith and it’s over now
Ladadye, Ladadye. Ladadye x2

My Son
The race was long and hard
That I stumbled I stumbled all the way
By His Mercy By His Mercy I sta-n-d-
Oooh- It’s all over now
Oooh- and I’ve made it through somehow
The war is over
The race is run
I’ve kept the faith
It’s over now-
Oooh-, Oooh- now there is for me a cro-w-n-, a crown of righteousness
Which He will give me on that day,
Which He will give me on that day,
He will give , He will give me on that day
He will give, He will give me on that day
When I see His Face
Ladadye, Ladadye, Ladadaye, (until it fades)
