I want to take you cool places tonight
I want to go where nobody's a fool
And no one says uh, "Hey girl, need a light?"
I want to move like this and that
A minimum of chit chat
I never want to cool down, cool down, cool cool cool,
I gotta tell you, you're lookin' real good
They let us in so I'm feelin' all right
I like to go where sometimes they refuse
Yeah, I remember last Saturday night
But I'm feeling cooler now
And they could tell we're cooler now
It's obvious we're cooler now, cooler now, cool cool cool,
Cool places tonight
[Chorus]
I want to go, I want to go, etc.
I want to go to cool places tonight
I want to go to cool places with you
And after that we'll slip out for a bite
A coffee shop, and toast, coffee and juice
And then we'll sleep 'til 5 p.m.
And start it up all over again
I never want to cool down, cool down, cool cool cool
[Chorus]
"Cool Places" by Sparks and Jane Wiedlin is a song about the desire to escape mundane daily life and go to cool places with someone special. The lyrics express the desire to go to places where nobody is a fool, and where there is a minimum of chit chat. The song celebrates the feeling of being cool, and the desire to maintain that feeling.
The song also touches on the idea of chasing nightlife and experiencing the joys that come with it. The lyrics mention being let into exclusive places, and the thrill of being in a place that sometimes refuses entry. The idea of being "cooler now" is prevalent, which reflects the idea that being in a cool place with someone special makes one feel more alive and desirable.
The chorus repeats the desire to go to cool places with the person they are singing to, and the verse highlights the promise of simple pleasures- grabbing coffee or juice, and sleeping until late afternoon. The singer is not just looking for a wild night out, but also the comfort of being with someone they enjoy spending time with.

I first heard this on a flight to England. My Grandmother took me to visit her family there, during the summer of 1983. It was a pleasant experience at age 13! Every time I listen to this song, it takes me right back to that flight on the Delta TriStar. By the way, my wife absolutely hates this song. Lol
@twiff3rino28
Tristars were still being assembled at this time, but they were becoming quickly obsolete from new models introduced in the early 80s. The A320 was also in its detailed design phase in '83
