1) Spoon is an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas. The band was formed in late 1993 by lead singer/guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno. Current members also include: Eric Harvey (keyboard, guitar, percussion, backing vocals) and Rob Pope (bass, backing vocals - replaced Joshua Zarbo in 2007).
After releasing their debut LP Telephono on Matador Records, the band signed with Elektra in 1998, but the contract was dropped soon after the band released A Series of Sneaks. In response the band released a two-song single titled The Agony of Laffitte (referring to Elektra A&R man Ron Laffitte). Eventually they signed to Merge Records.
Spoon has been met with widespread critical acclaim. Girls Can Tell, released in 2001, sold more copies than both their previous releases combined. Kill the Moonlight accomplished the same feat a year later. Gimme Fiction was released on May 10, 2005 and continued the trend of increasing popularity for the band.
Britt Daniel wrote much of the soundtrack to the 2006 film Stranger Than Fiction. Four tracks by Spoon are also featured.
The band released their sixth studio album Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga on July 10, 2007; those who purchased the first pressing also received a bonus disc titled Get Nice!.
Transference is their seventh studio album. It was released on January 18, 2010 in Europe, and on January 19 in North America, to moderately positive reviews.

Someone Something
Spoon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Take some stock what you are what you see what you got
It tells me true I want a connection to
Someone something
Edge of a knife been missing it all my life
Someone something
Yes it's true just a connection to
Someone something
Been up all night feel like sucking an armalite
Someone something
Everything moves so fast I should know it won't last
I want a settled life I want to be calm and polite
Someone something
I'll get this right when I get there now
Someone something
The lyrics to Spoon's song Someone Something speaks to the constant need for human connection and the longing for something deeper and more meaningful in life. The opening line "Everything moves so fast I should know it won't last" sets the tone for the rest of the song. It's a reminder that life is constantly changing and moving, and it's important to appreciate every moment as it comes. The repetition of "Someone something" throughout the song highlights the singer's desire for a deeper connection with someone or something that can ground them and bring them stability in their otherwise fast-paced life.
The line "Edge of a knife been missing it all my life" is particularly poignant, speaking to the fact that the singer feels like they've been on the cusp of something important for their whole life, but hasn't quite found it yet. The desperation in the line "Been up all night feel like sucking an armalite" underscores the singer's longing for something real and tangible, and the urgency with which they're searching for it.
In the final stanza, the singer speaks to their desire for a "settled life" and "calm and polite" demeanor, implying that they're tired of the constant chaos and uncertainty in their life and long for a more stable and predictable existence. The last line "I'll get this right when I get there now, someone something" suggests that the singer is still searching for that elusive connection and hasn't given up hope of finding it.

Spoon really is the master of soul-punk.
Also why isn't soul-punk considered a legitimate genre?? Black Keys, White Stripes, some Generationals, it's definitely there

Soul? Makes me thing of James Brown.. or black gospel music..
Id say this is more like indie folk rock..
