Ordinary Life
Starfield Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Make me someone new
Wake me from the dead
And break me with the truth
Move me and disturb me
Interrupt my peace
Tear open my heart
There's a world outside
That is burning
While I'm turning blinded eyes
While I stand by
I won't survive
To live this ordinary life
I'm not alive
To live this ordinary life
And I will try
To see this world I live in
With Your eyes
To love this world You've given
With my life
To see this world I live in
With Your eyes
To love this world You've given
With my life
The lyrics to Starfield's "Ordinary Life" speak to a desire for transformation and deep spiritual awakening. The lyrics express vulnerability and the need to be shaken out of a state of complacency. The lines "Take me and invade me, Make me someone new" suggest a willingness to be transformed by a higher power. The singer is asking to be woken from a "dead" state and exposed to the "truth," even if it means being broken open.
The next lines of the song continue the theme of transformation through disruption. The singer is asking to be "moved" and "disturbed" and for their "peace" to be interrupted. They are willing to have their heart "torn open" and to be taken to their knees. These lines reflect the idea that true transformation often involves discomfort and pain before reaching a state of growth.
The chorus of the song speaks to the singer's dissatisfaction with an "ordinary life" and the desire to live a more purposeful existence. The world is described as "burning" but the singer has been turning a "blinded eye" to it. They recognize that they "won't survive" in such an ordinary state and are resolved to "see this world" with fresh eyes and to "love this world" with their life.

CrimsonFall
Their music, melody tab into my spirit; all the lyrics resonate with my heart and soul. It almost feels as if the lyrics were written for me to see, and SING! For HIM! 9 to 5, same routines same people day and night, nothing thrives nothing new to try with no where to strife...we become adapted and used to this ordinary life, faith is on strike, souls asleep no longer hear the Trinity cry.. how do we survive, 'til the day we meet Christ..
