In 2000, after living in New Hampshire, he moved back down to Massachusetts to enroll in the audio production program at Boston's New England Institute of the Arts. That same year, Selektah started putting out mixtapes, namely his Spell My Name Right series. With his mixtapes and DJ gigs, Selektah never passed up the opportunity to champion local hip-hop from Boston and the surrounding New England area. In particular, Selektah was responsible for introducing fellow Lawrence, MA, native Termanology to the world, helming his Hood Politics mixtapes in the mid- to late 2000s. Managing all of these tasks became much easier when he established in 2003 his own PR/marketing firm ShowOff.
In 2006, he turned ShowOff Records into an official record label, with Termanology & Producer DC's Out the Gate LP as its first release. By this time, though, Selektah's prestige had grown considerably. His radio shows were playing in several places, from London to Mobile, AL; he produced beats for many artists, including Foxy Brown, AZ, and Joell Ortiz; and most importantly, the DJ dished out tons of mixtapes with big name and up-and-coming artists, such as Nas, Q-Tip, John Legend, Royce da 5'9" (The Bar Exam, co-hosted with DJ Premier), and Saigon.
Statik dropped his first LP, Spell My Name Right in 2007, and his follow up Stick 2 the Script album in 2008. Other artists he has produced for following that include Talib Kweli, Bun B, Styles P, Consequence, Freeway, M.O.P., and Jadakiss. Rockstar games reached out for Statik in late 2008 to enlist him as DJ and producer of the Grand Theft Auto IV update "the Lost and Damned", as well as 2 songs for Midnight Club: Los Angeles.
In March 2008, Selektah and Saigon recorded All In A Day's Work in a 24 hour period, and was acclaimed by critics. He also DJed for Q-tip on his 2009 Renassaince World Tour. Statik just dropped his third studio album, 100 Proof: The Hangover on Showoff/Brick Records.
In 2010 Statik Selektah released his fourth album, Population Control, on Duck Down Records to critical acclaim boasting features from a mix of up and coming MC's and well established veterans.
Statik's fifth album, Extended Play, was released on June 18, 2013, and features Joey Bada$$, Action Bronson, Raekwon, Sean Price, Mac Miller, Black Thought, Noreaga, Lecrae, Lil' Fame, Styles P, Mike Posner, Termanology, Freddie Gibbs, Bun B, Joell Ortiz, Posdnuos of De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Troy Ave., Hit-Boy, Smif-N-Wessun, Flatbush Zombies, and many many more.

Watch it, uh, let's get it
Talk to 'em for a sec
Before you get into the flow
Just talk to 'em for a minute
Yeah, E-V the truth, man
Watch you bring down the movement
Better yet, call him the architect
This shit ain't fly
Rather sit up, watchin' paint dry
E-V killin' this shit, ain't I?
And if they question it, I tell 'em AI
I'm the answers to your problems, man
Got no dancers, just start it, man
It's the only place I'm headin' for
When in four, goin' for, movin' on we gon' do
How we do, yeah, we rock and roll
As long as Rak' can roll, Babu (Dilated)
We got the block controlled, and that's true
It's sad to say goodbye so I'm through
And I can rock a rhyme in just static
Spontaneous, I drop sporadic
I drop shit when the needle
Drops down on the plastic
I never drop that ball, I drop that raw
Come sideways out your mouth and
I drop that jaw fuck the top on the Range
I'll just chop that off
So I can feel the summer breeze blow
When I creep slow
Let out the tree smoke, without a seed, ho
On the line I'm hittin' all of my free throws
Takin' it back, I'm on my repo
I'll switch into beast mode
Push it to the max like Stezo
Without those parachute pants and dances
Wild style
I should throw buckets of a paint at a canvas
And let it drip, Statik cut the record
Don't let it skip test the rocket launcher
Light it and let it rip
Goodbye
The lyrics to Statik Selektah's song "Time To Say Goodbye" seem to be a combination of introspective thoughts and self-assured declarations. It starts with a group of artists giving each other a brief introduction and encouraging the listener to pay attention. They acknowledge the power and influence they have in the hip-hop movement, referring to themselves as carpenters and architects, responsible for building and shaping the genre. They express a disinterest in superficial things and instead focus on their own growth and impact. They assert their skills, claiming to be the answer to any problem, and emphasize their dedication and perseverance.
The second part of the song is delivered by a different artist who talks about his ability to captivate an audience with his rhymes. He boasts about his spontaneous and unpredictable style, comparing it to the sensation of a needle dropping on a vinyl record. He emphasizes his consistency in delivering powerful verses and dismisses anyone who doubts his abilities. He mentions chopping off the top of a Range Rover, symbolizing his disregard for material possessions and his desire for freedom. He references summer breezes, smoking weed, and being in his own flow. He compares himself to a beast and a basketball player, showcasing his dominance and skill in both creative expression and athletic prowess. Finally, he suggests throwing paint at a canvas, symbolizing his desire to create and make his mark in the world.
Overall, the lyrics reflect a strong self-belief, a dedication to artistic growth, and a disregard for materialism, while also highlighting the artists' individual styles and talents.
