Originally born in Southern California, Stephen the Levite met muzeONE at Bible College where they joined Redeemed Thought. Sensing God’s leading them to re-locate in Philadelphia, they packed up MuzeOne’s car and travelled cross-country to the East Coast, where they were immediately embraced by the Holy hip-hop community. In 2005, RT independently released their debut album, “Truth, Beauty, Goodness”, a rich blend of underground west coast lyricism and Biblical depth. In 2006, Stephen the Levite hooked up with Lamp Mode and dropped his solo project, “To Die is Gain”, a critically-acclaimed lyrical masterpiece. Future plans include receiving hate mail for making controversial statements about false teachers as well as starting a Christian hardcore thrash metal band.

This was a great explanation and I gotta peep the lecrae album to see what message he was sending
@wilbertporter6704
Adedeji Olajide never tied this song into what lacrea was doing because of the reference but.....dang you opened my thoughts to that.
@dejiolajide_
what does he mean when he refers to lecare and his "to die is gain" track ?
@preach2dastreets
Before this album dropped, Lecrae released an album entitled 'Rebel'. Also, Stephen the Levite's previous album called 'To Die is Gain', was very much centred on calling young Christians to stop being lukewarm. It also questioned a lot of the legalism and non-God focused things that goes on in churches.
I think in this track, Stephen the Levite is saying that some fans of those albums misunderstood the meanings of the albums. Some fans probably took the lyrics to mean that its good to dismiss everything that the 'older generation' of Christians are doing and that Stephen the Levite was encouraging them to be rebellious against the older generation. Stephen the Levite here is just taking a moment to clearly say... 'Hang on a sec... if that's what you heard, then you heard me wrong. If you're a young Christian, submit to the wisdom of older Christians who are walking by faith. The fight is against sin, Satan and the flesh... not against the Church"

Hope that was helpful!
