Stereophonics Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
wanna tell you that you'll be alright
Sad news from todays call
All the pictures are all in my mind
I miss you now
Older we're getting older
im helpless, it's gonna get us, before it gets us
i wanna kiss you goodbye
I miss you now
Feel numb wanna hold you
Wanna tell you that you'll be alright
Helpless it's gonna get us, before it gets us
I wanna kiss you goodbye
I miss you now
The lyrics to Stereophonics' "I Miss You Now" are steeped in feelings of longing, regret, and impending loss. The song depicts a sense of numbness that the singer feels after learning of sad news from (presumably) a phone call. Despite this, there is a desire to reach out and hold someone close, to comfort and assure them that everything will be okay. Through the lines "I wanna kiss you goodbye" and "I miss you now," the singer communicates a sense of impermanence and the ever-looming possibility of loss, particularly as they age and wonder if their friends will "leave [them] and die." The song ultimately paints a somber and poignant picture of a person grappling with the transient nature of life and personal relationships.
