After meeting disBAND Guru Greig Nori, Stand By Me was advised to change their name due to copyright issues. Turn It Up was chosen. Later, in order to perform several shows in Toronto, Ontario, Universal Music Canada A&R rep Mark Spicoluk advised the band to change their name again, and the band chose the name Stereos. After receiving the thumbs up from the judges from disBand, Stereos went to a large gig to receive a contract from the President of Universal Music Canada and judged by Kiss member Gene Simmons. The band released their self-titled debut album Stereos on October 20, 2009 and was certified gold by the CRIA in January 2010 with sales of over 40,000 copies.
In March 2010, the band received two Juno Award nominations which were for Best New Artist, and Best Pop Album. They released two other singles that charted moderately, "Turn It Up" peaked at #31, and "Butterflies" at #51. The song "She Only Likes Me When She's Drunk" failed to chart.
Stereos' second album, titled "Uncontrollable" was released on December 14, 2010. The first single from the album, "Uncontrollable" was released on October 25, 2010 and peaked at #42 on the Canadian Hot 100. The second single, "Body Move" was released in February 2011, just before their cross Canada tour. In mid April the band's drummer, Aaron, sustained a broken hand, leaving him unable to perform, causing the band to cancel their remaining shows.
On March 10, 2019, Stereos announced a 10-year reunion show to take place on May 11, 2019, at Toronto's Rec Room during Canadian Music Week on their Facebook page, which ended up selling out. A second 10-year reunion show in the band's hometown of Edmonton took place on August 16, 2019 and also sold out. On October 20, 2019, the band announced they were officially back in the studio recording new material. On February 3, 2020, the band announced via their social media pages that they would be releasing a brand new single, titled "Sunset Gold" which was released on February 28, 2020.
She Only Likes Me When She's Drunk

I must admit she seemed kinda tipsy at the time
The more she drank the more
She seemed to be pickin' up my vibe
And by the end of the night
I got them digits down in my phone (down in my phone)
We met again
This time at club
She wouldn't stop puttin' down shots of crown
She was all lickin' up on me
Like there wasn't anybody else around
And when I left she texted me
That I should have taken her home
(should have taken her home)
We started hanging
She wasn't drinkin'
She wasn't payin'
Me any attention
No conversatin'
No escalatin'
What we was doin so I figured out
She only likes me when shes drunk
Why don't I give it up
Don't get a word unless the girls gettin' gone
Don't wanna get her drunk
Just to get love
When she drinks shes only leadin' me on
Another week went by and then I get another invite
To kick it at a place alone so I responded alright
Another chance with a girl of my dreams
Yeah shes a ten (yeah shes a ten)
So I show up at nine but an hour after I said I would
The way she actin' seems like this girl really like me good
But then I see she brought
A bottle down its happenin' again (happenin' again)
Another time hangin'
How much she be drinkin'
Girl I ain't playin'
No more delayin'
I go to ask her
About this disaster
But then I realized that shes passed out
She only likes me when shes drunk
Why don't I give it up
Don't get a word unless the girls gettin' gone
Don't wanna get her drunk
Just to get love
When she drinks shes only leadin' me on
She only likes me when shes drunk
Why don't I give it up
Don't get a word unless the girls gettin' gone
Don't wanna get her drunk
Just to get love
When she drinks shes only leadin' me on
Hanging out with a girl she hot like a model
She only like me with a bottle
Shes always gotta tie one on
For me to get her in my zone
Plays like a quarter back
Keeps sippin' yak
You know its only gonna throw my game off track
No a drink in her hand
Wont get a man
Wont even ask her what your sayin'
I tried to get a hug and
I had to fill my mug and
She wanna get it it on a
Only with corona
If I give her white wine
She gon' give the right time
But without her liquor
I'll never get with her
She only likes me when shes drunk
Why don't I give it up
Don't get a word unless the girls gettin' gone
Don't wanna get her drunk
Just to get love
When she drinks shes only leadin' me on
She only likes me when shes drunk
Why don't I give it up
Don't get a word unless the girls gettin' gone
Don't wanna get her drunk
Just to get love
When she drinks shes only leadin' me on
The lyrics of "She Only Likes Me When She's Drunk" by Stereos describe a situation where the singer meets a girl who seems to only be interested in him when she's intoxicated. The first verse introduces the girl as someone who becomes more drawn to the singer as she drinks more. He gets her phone number and they meet again at a club where she drinks heavily and acts in a flirtatious manner. However, when they hang out again without alcohol, she doesn't pay him any attention. The chorus emphasizes her reliance on drinking, and how she only likes the singer when she's under the influence.
The second verse continues the pattern of the girl's behavior, as she invites the singer to hang out with her and once again drinks heavily. However, this time she becomes so intoxicated that she passes out, leading the singer to realize that her interest in him is only temporary and only emerges when she's under the influence. The final verse further emphasizes her dependence on alcohol, and the singer's realization that he doesn't want to engage in a relationship based on this dynamic.
Overall, the lyrics of "She Only Likes Me When She's Drunk" highlight the issue of temporary attraction and dependence on alcohol, suggesting that such a relationship cannot be sustained in the long term.
