Sublime with Rome performed their first gig together in February 2009 near Gaugh's home in Nevada, followed by an appearance at Cypress Hill's Smokeout Festival in San Bernadino that October. On April 20, 2010, the band embarked on their first-ever US tour with dates going into that fall. After positive reaction on the road, Sublime with Rome released a debut album on Fueled By Ramen records in July 2011.
In December 2011, Bud Gaugh revealed in an interview that he would be leaving Sublime With Rome and KROQ's Accoustic Christmas would be his last show. He saying he wanted to go home and spend more time with his family. He later went on to say "It was really good for the first few months, after that, it just felt wrong. Not playing the songs but playing them with the name Sublime, without Brad." When asked if he saw the band reuniting in the future Gaugh replied "No, I am done with SWR. I would be into playing music with Eric Wilson, however." He was replaced by Josh Freese.

Is it the words she says
The only thing that keeps me here
Are her eyes in the morning
Oh, I've packed my things a thousand times, oh-ho-oh
And I've faked believe all her lies, for the last time
So I could figure out your head
The canvass dripped with my sweat, blood and tears
And she hated every thread
Oh, I've packed my things a thousand times, oh-ho-oh
And I've faked believe all her lies, for the last time
Take it or leave it
'Cause I'm really leaving
I've purchased my ticket to New York
First thing in the morning
Kissing you good morning
And whispering goodbye
Take it or leave it
'Cause I'm really leaving
I've made up my mind this time
There's no coming back for you
Oh, there's no coming back for you
Told her no purse was more important
Than the knowledge in her head
She grabbed her shit just like a baby
I couldn't believe the words she said
The only thing I ever see her read
Are those damn gossip magazines
They feed her head with all that nonsense, yeah
So she can fit in with the scene
Oh, I've packed my things a thousand times, oh-ho-oh
And I've faked believe all her lies, for the last time
Take it or leave it
'Cause I'm really leaving
I've purchased my ticket to New York
First thing in the morning
Kissing you good morning
And whispering goodbye
Take it or leave it
'Cause I'm really leaving
I've made up my mind this time
There's no coming back for you
Oh, there's no coming back for you. oh no
And I am always feeling incomplete
She smothered herself with her own beauty
And she was born and raised as daddy's princess
But her gesture is no match for an heiress
Yeah her gesture is no match for an heiress
'Cause I try to love you, try to hold on to
The feeling that makes me fall for you
Oh, the feeling that makes me fall
Take it or leave it now
Take it or leave it
'Cause I'm really leaving
I've purchased my ticket to New York
First thing in the morning
Kissing you good morning
And whispering goodbye
'Cause I try to love you, try to hold on to
The feeling that makes me fall for you, oh
That makes me fall for you
Take it or leave it
'Cause I'm really leaving
I've purchased my ticket to New York
First thing in the morning
Kissing you good morning
And whispering goodbye
'Cause I try to love you, try to hold on to
The feeling that makes me fall for you
Oh, the feeling that makes me fall
Makes me fall for you
The song "Take It or Leave It" by Sublime with Rome is about a toxic relationship that the singer is finally ready to leave. The lyrics suggest that he has been hurt numerous times by this person, through the words she says and the lies she tells. Despite this, the only thing that seems to keep him around is her physical appearance, particularly her eyes in the morning. However, the singer has finally had enough and has packed his things many times before. He has even drawn a map to try and understand her better, but ultimately, he knows he has to leave for good.
The chorus of the song uses the phrase "Take it or leave it" to suggest that he is giving his partner a choice to either make changes in their relationship or he will be leaving for good. The repetitive use of this phrase emphasizes the singer's strong desire to be free from this toxic relationship.
The final verse of the song suggests that the singer has tried to help his partner by encouraging her to value knowledge over material possessions. However, his efforts seem to be in vain as she is more interested in reading gossip magazines to fit in with the crowd. This further emphasizes the toxicity of the relationship and the singer's desire to be free from it.
Overall, "Take It or Leave It" is a powerful representation of a toxic relationship and the difficult decision to leave it behind.

I am an enormous Sublime fan, but the band waited for years before playing music again. They gave their respects to Bradley but life has to continue. The name "Sublime with Rome" is incredibly respectful and represents exactly what this band is.
@BigBewtieHoles
They shouldn’t have hired a certified homosexual like Rome though.
@tresand9595
Wtf do you mean they waited years? They waited years to take on Rome... they most definitely played and released music months after Bradley's imminent demise.
@mattagrella4369
If it was respectful, it was forced respect. Bradley Nowell had the sole rights to Sublime when he passed away. When they did decide to start back playing again, they wanted to use the name Sublime but couldn't, due to a lost court battle with Bradley Nowell's estate, thus adding the "with Rome" part. But I totally appreciate your sentiment. =)

Hey Rome, not sure if you'll see this, but I'd like to say thank you. I have been a sublime fan for a long time, and I'm glad that you stepped in. I bet it's tough to jump into a band that had been apart for years. I bet it's even more difficult to read some negative comments about you as the lead singer. Thank you for adding your voice to the band. I'm glad that I get to hear more Sublime. Stay strong brother.
