1. Exploding onto Salt Lake City's indie music scene in 2019, Sunfish has generated quite a buzz in a relatively short amount of time, selling out their frequent hometown shows with ease.
Accompanied onstage by an ever-changing array of electrifying musicians, Carter Sears drenches gritty-alternative-synth-rock in warm melodies and encapsulating hooks, utilizing his antithetical music tastes to shift in genre with every release.
Having DIY conquered the west coast, and touring with bands such as Arlie and Friday Pilots Club, Sunfish will continue to give their all to every performance, whether it's for 10 people or 10,000.
Sunfish's songwriting is well-complemented by an electrifying live show. The band's versatility is regularly put to the test as they perform a wide range of styles in their set, playing with both popular indie pop/rock groups, and larger rock and metal bands.
2. A Canadian folk/alternative rock band that consisted of guitarist/vocalist Tom Fidgen, drummer Mike Morrison and bassist Scott Brown.
Sunfish got together in the summer of 1993. Tom Fidgen had returned to Sydney, Nova Scotia with a handful of songs he had written during the 2 year stay in Halifax, on his way home from Toronto. Once home, he got in touch with Scott Brown, a friend from high school and roommate in Toronto, and suggested that they find a drummer and do some recording. Scott, who played bass, called Mike Morrison, and, with Graeme Porter on acoustic guitar, they started playing.
Sunfish rose to prominence beyond the local bar scene after a win in 1994′s CJCB Music Spirit East contest enabled the band to record the single “Find the Time”, produced by friend and fellow songwriter Gordie Sampson. The buzz from this recording gave the band the momentum to gather the resources needed to record their now classic CD "Mola mola". Mola mola was a hit locally and beyond, with the song “Difference“ winning Best Indie Video at the Much Music Video Awards in 1995 and receiving national rotation on popular radio.
Despite this early success the band-members chose to go separate ways in 1997.
3. A psychedelia/trance group from UK.
In the summer of 1997 Jon Kerry formed Sunfish as a live Techno / Psychedelic Trance outfit using synths, computers and projected visuals. ‘Jabber’ the first CD was released in December of that year and became an underground classic.
The band expanded to include Sacha Holloway, a storming female guitarist.. As a live act, Sunfish became big on the dance scene with their combination of live Psy Trance and interactive visuals.
Sunfish went one step further and introduced Ali Luia, a superb live vocalist. Ali brings an exciting dynamic to tight new songs with solid grooves that are guaranteed to keep an audience dancing. With Tor Rubble also providing vocals and an energy not to be missed!!

Maybe I was in love
Spent all my days
Dreaming of
Being with you
And happy cause
At least now I'm kinda not
Feeling so lost
And writing more songs
But the being alone stings
I know what I want
When I see you my heart sings
But it's breakup songs
And I jump when my phone rings
I can't take this for long
Feeling better
I'll do whatever I want
Got no tether
Yeah you're a little taunt
And I know I'll never
Get whatever I want
But I'm feeling better
Yeah you think you're clever?
Oh you're canceling
Well who would've ever thought
Pulling my heart strings
Better hope that your not
I don't care about anything
I don't care that we fought
But you see here's the thing
It's always my fault
I don't wanna blame you
I cannot contain you
It's just such a shame
You won't even let me talk
All you want is fame
And you think I'm your bane
And you can't handle pain
You won't even let me talk
Feeling better
I'll do whatever I want
Got no tether
Yeah you're a little taunt
And I know I'll never
Get whatever I want
But I'm feeling better
Yeah you think you're clever?
Feeling better
I'll do whatever I want
Got no tether
Yeah you're a little taunt
And I know I'll never
Get whatever I want
But I'm feeling better
Yeah you think you're clever?
Feeling better
I'll do whatever I want
Got no tether
Yeah you're a little taunt
And I know I'll never
Get whatever I want
But I'm feeling better
Yeah you think you're clever?
In the first verse of Sunfish's song Whatever, the singer admits to having been in love in the past, spending all their days dreaming of being with someone, who is not specified. They appear to have moved on from this love, as they talk about doing their own thing and writing more songs. However, there is still a sense of loneliness, as they admit that they "jump" when their phone rings and long for human connection. The singer is conflicted about their feelings towards this person, as they mention that when they see them, their heart sings, but that they know they can't handle the breakup that would follow.
In the second verse, the singer reflects on the dynamics of the relationship, suggesting that it was toxic and that they were constantly blamed for everything. The other person is shown to be selfish and indifferent to the singer's feelings, as they are only interested in fame and don't even let the singer talk. Despite this, the singer seems to be in a better place now, feeling "free" and capable of doing whatever they want, without any restrictions or attachments. The chorus repeats the idea of feeling better and doing whatever they want, while acknowledging the unattainability of their desires.
Overall, the song Whatever is a mixture of conflicting emotions, as the singer expresses both longing and detachment towards a past lover. The lyrics convey a sense of freedom and empowerment that comes with moving on from a toxic relationship, while also acknowledging the lingering pain and desire that come with letting go of someone you once loved.
