After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.

The three of us here on the street
You know I've wondered what I'd say
Now the moment's here
And suddenly it's crystal clear
Some things are never gonna change
From where I stand I see an old familiar story
Now it's looking like it's my turn to be lonely
And I tell you I don't like the view
I was just like you
For me he left somebody too
And I didn't care if that was wrong
Oh but now I've found
The tears you cause come back around
And they're coming your way before too long
From where I stand we've got a lot in common and
There's a good chance you'll be standing one day
right here
Chorus
The song "From Where I Stand" by Suzy Bogguss is a narrative piece that tells the story of a chance encounter between two women who have both been wronged by the same man. The singer in the song expresses a sense of empathy towards the other woman because she has been in her shoes before. The lyrics convey a message about the cyclical nature of life and the way that certain patterns often repeat themselves.
The song begins with the singer meeting the other woman on the street and acknowledging the irony of their shared experience. The singer then reflects on the fact that some things in life never change no matter how much we wish they would. From her perspective, the singer sees a common thread between herself and the other woman; both have been left by the same man.
The chorus of the song drives home the point that the singer is trying to make. She sees her past mistakes reflected in the other woman's situation, and she warns her that the same fate may befall her eventually. The singer is expressing regret for not taking responsibility for her actions in the past and acknowledging that the pain she caused has come back around to her.
Overall, "From Where I Stand" is a poignant song that conveys a message about personal responsibility and the cyclical nature of human experience.
